Somewhat urgent advice needed about my BB Curve 8330

Hey guys,

A few months ago I put my knee into my Blackberry Curve during charging while it was sitting on my bed and basically screwed up its Micro-Usb jack. That was inconvenient, but not insurmountable. It still charged if you positioned things just right.

Anyway, an hour ago I did something I thought I'd never do and dropped it while charging and it's fucked. It won't charge at all, no matter how widely I wriggle the connection.

The kicker is, I'm unemployed and can't afford a new phone. I've considered both repair and an external charger. The trouble is I don't know how available either of those options are in Edmonton. Which is better? Does anyone have experience with something like this?

To complicate matters even further, I'm unable to get internet at my apartment. I've been posting for the past few months on the doomed Blackberry in question. So while I will appreciate you insights no matter what, I'll appreciate them even more within the next 6-8 hours more since after that I won't be able to read this

My warranty's obviously void. And I'd prefer a charger but if I can't get either of those is repair a viable option? I have about 60 buck to shell out for this cause

The usb port is generally fixable. You can buy the part on ebay for $6.00 but some delicate soldering is involved. You could pay somebody to fix it for you for about $40. It would probably be easier to buy a used phone, possibly within your budget or buy a replacement main board for the phone.

I have an old 8703e Blackberry. It has cracked plastic on the screen but is still perfectly usable. If you can pay postage, I can arrange to send it to you and you could get it activated. It'll probably do in a pinch for the time being.
