Something missing?

Bah Humbug said:Well said. I agree with you about the new Battlestar Galactica. It may be more sophisticated, but it has no heart compared to Star Trek or original Battlestar Galactica

Don't confuse sophistication and complication!

The "big three" and their interaction has more, as you said, heart than anything that NuBSG has offered so far.

I'd not throw in special effects either, while they might not be able to get the Enterprise to move around without appearing to fly through a hurricane of dust and hair without newer CGI (I kid ;) ) the look of TOS has an appeal that has aged so well. Compare something like an S-Type Jaguar from the 60s to its modern counterpart. A superb car technically, the newer model just doesn't have the grace of its predecessor.

well in the last 20 years I have NEVER caught "the alternative factor" "catspaw" or a couple other of those stinkers that even most people around here would rather blow their brains out than watch. So YES they have been selectivly airing only "the Best of". At least here in the USA. So it does hold water. Quite a bit of water and is in fact water tight. :brickwall:
I wasn't arguing that whoever you're watching hasn't been showing selective episodes. They may very well be. But you seemed to be suggesting that TOS owes its popularity to selective reruns. That argument holds water like a sieve. It doesn't begin to touch upon the phenomenon that this show was in the first two decades of its life, when all of the episodes were most definitely being rerun, over and over. The spin-off series against which newer fans might compare TOS negatively owe their very existence to how good TOS was perceived to be in those years, and how it left TV audiences wanting more.
