Something I Never Saw before in Star Trek II

Indeed I did. Here’s my Flickr album full of my TWOK-era sickbay renders, complete with the clock and McCoy’s name on the glass: https://flickr.com/photos/61505200@N02/sets/72157651054367256

I can't get enough of this stuff...I LOVE the production design from the TMP era stuff...I could spend hours looking at every little detail!

Can you "roam around" in these renders, like a video game, or are they all static?

You can roam around, however none of the rooms are connected via a corridor network yet. But yeah, It’s a real-time experience, just sadly it’s not complete and has yet to be released. Hopefully one day!

Hop over to my thread (https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/donnys-tos-twok-enterprise-interiors.212119/page-195) to keep up with my TOS project I’m currently working on.

It's awesome stuff. Really the next best thing to looking at/wandering around the real thing! Thanks for sharing with everyone!

You inspired me to look around, and I found this from that scene in an earlier draft of the script. Evidently they changed it to just being in McCoy's office:

178 INT. ENTERPRISE HOSPITAL 178
The ship reverberates with the near miss. Chekov wakes
up, looks wildly about --

BONES
Take it easy --

CHEKOV
But I must --

BONES
Listen to me, Pavel; you haven't
the strength or the equilibrium --

CHEKOV
But --

As they talk, David, unnoticed, leaves the area. The
Enterprise is buffeted again --

CAROL
Dr. McCoy, I can't just sit here.
Tell me what I can do.

BONES
(grim)
You can help get my surgery squared
away. I'm expecting customers.

Actually that was from the final shooting script as well and there were two sickbay scenes filmed and cut. That above was the second of two very brief scenes in sickbay after they return from the "eden" cave. In the first we see McCoy working on Chekov's ear and David says he wants to go to the bridge and McCoy tells him no. The second (above) is where the shudder from a near hit wakes Chekov and David slips out of sickbay unnoticed. There have been stills floating around of those two scenes since 1982.

Here is a still from the first scene of McCoy working on Chekov.

The dining booth was added for TWOK. I've seen the plans for it.

You can see the office in TMP behind Kirk as he and Spock and Decker discuss the Ilia probe.

Yep. The Prop Store had them up for auction last year:

I was tempted, but I was already bidding on other items in the auction and it was getting expensive as it went on (I ended up with 7 of the 10 pieces I was bidding on).

Here is the location on the TMP Kirk's quarters set blueprints:

Fascinating. I wonder what (presumably cut or moved) WoK scene the dining booth was intended for?

I was looking through Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise when I saw the plans for Sickbay and was reminded of this thread. You can clearly see McCoy's office, and it's just as it's laid out in the movie. Of course, in reality, they used every detail they could find in the movies as a basis for this book, and worked around that. But it's still cool. It's interesting that you must walk through lab in order to get to McCoy's office.

I never liked the refit sickbay layout. There's no direct access into the EOR, so you have to carry patients in either though McCoy's lab or through the ward. Dumb, making 90 degree turns either way.

Transporter unit.

Maybe. I was more referring to seeing who's hurt as they're wheeled or stagger in. Unless there's a red alert he already knows about, someone who hasn't taken the time to call him on comms won't take him by complete surprise if they have to pass his desk first. It doesn't happen often enough to disturb his work.
