Something I just realized about the pew pew hand phasers.

Basically what I realised is that they finally got phasers right.

What I mean to say is they finally got the blast the travels at the speed of light thing right as we see the emitter light up and then see the flash from the target being hit a second or two later.

So really pew pew phasers are more correct that the old slow beam shooting ones.

Sure, if the target is 300,000-600,000 km away. Otherwise, the beam isn't traveling at the speed of light. But your point is taken.
 
In ST11 when Kirk n' Spock board the Narada, every time a phaser is fired we can see the bolt travel across the room and hit the target. Nothing was much different except for the lack of a solid beam. Not that it matters anyway, it's not a documentary. :)
