I remember Nunavat because I know that it is the closest to Greenland (and I have done some research on Greenland in the past).
I got Nunavut right because I remember the news stories when it was created.
This is my favourite geography quiz of those I've come across. It's no good for learning your way around the globe in the first place, but is a good revision tool. I've never made it past Level 11.![]()

I remember there was a thread devoted to that particular game a long while ago. I can't remember how well I did, though.

The link in the OP is dead, but I think it was the same one - I just did it again, almost made it to level 12 with 494,240 points, but barely missed the 55K mark by a couple thousand (damn you oceanic island states!). Although I also remember another one that got increasingly more difficult by removing the border-outlines of the countries etc.
Pretty good for my first try, I'd say. This is my favourite geography quiz of those I've come across. It's no good for learning your way around the globe in the first place, but is a good revision tool. I've never made it past Level 11.![]()
Then again, I do visit sporcle.com geography occasionally.
Damnit!
All I needed was a measly 2125 points on the last location on the last level and what did I get?
Bouvet Island, Norway ... the most remote island in the world apparently (as I now know).
I was off by some 13000 km on that one.![]()
Yeah, it would be hard to get close enough for >5k points. I thought it was funny mainly because I was off by so much. It's not really more difficult than some Russian cities for example, or some of those islands in Oceania. Pearl Harbour isn't exactly easy to hit either.Damnit!

I know that one from it being the site of the first 'Alien vs Predator' movie, and from the Vela Incident happening, while not close, near enough to the general area to know to associate it with it being between Antarctica and South Africa. But you're essentially aiming for an invisible spot on the map somewhere southwest of South Africa, so it's almost impossible to get close.
That would definitely help. That said:I wish they would make the map bigger though, both so it's easier to see things and so when my hand shakes it doesn't accidentally take you an extra couple hundred miles away from your target.
