Both of the 1701-D bridges and the Death Star theater fucking rock. The Sci-fi theme one with Robby The Robot and the Predator is pretty slick too.
He can't be that much of a loser if he can afford to blow $70,000 on a home theater.
It's something incredibly cool. Shows craftsmanship/artistry,
uniqueness...we of all people should never dis anyone for indulging the nerd within, in the privacy of your own home. Chances are, the people who get to see it would be people who would understand.
If I did a custom home theater It'd be the TARDIS. I'd have a blue police box for entrance, you enter through the smallish double doors and then it would open up and be big inside with the whole theater in a round console room, or maybe the one from the 1996 movie actually, aesthetically it was pretty and it would feel warm and cozy, and then I'd have hallways coming off of it leading to things like mockup rooms and the bathroom etc..., to give the feel you were inside the TARDIS.
Sounds like the perfect place for a table full of food!
That's very cool. However, I see 2 problems with the design.
1.) You'd have to be sitting at least 20 feet away from the screen to avoid being vaporized by the kawoosh.
2.) You can only watch something for 38 minutes at a time.

You'll also will need to spend more money to slap on an IRIS to stop your mother popping around unannounced
