Someone likes Stargate: Atlantis a little *too* much...

I kid. This is actually kind of cool, if pricey. From Gizmodo:

Jacob Yarmuth may not hold the official title of world's biggest Stargate Atlantis fan, but I doubt anyone would question his claim after he designed this home theater system inspired by the show. So what's $70k getting you these days?

Read the whole thing here.

I noticed he used the Milky Way glyphs, though.

I dunno....I mean, how the heck would you ever be able to show that to anyone without feeling incredibly embarrassed?

That rectangular screen inside the gate just doesn't look right though.

I suppose you could brag about having so much money that you could blow 70K on something as goofy as this.

Maybe he has a huge penis and it compensates for him being such a fanboy that other fans turn away and snigger

I think with the blue lighting that set design and atmosphere blows away any Atlantis set designs they used in the real show!

I could imagine an Ancient city ship with a gate in a big room like that with a huge window in the ceiling and the stars above flying out in deep space

Atlantis should have been lighted like that image above

Aside from the Stargate designs, it's a typical home theater. As the field inspector for the assessor's office in a township with plenty of high priced properties, I've seen quite a few.

Quite often one of the builders would ask me "so ..., how high are the taxes on a place like this?' and my standard response would be "more than my annual salary!"

You need to learn to embrace your inner nerd a little more.

I would show that thing off in a heartbeat!

I don't think Lindley has any problem showing off his inner nerd. I'm sure it's the inner nerd that's embarassed--after all it's Stargate Atlantis. :p

Which ruins the rather witless remark I was going to make in this thread: Wait, somebody else bought season five, too?

I know, I know, low blow...

Dorky...but fraking cool as all hell. Even without the gate, that's make a great sci-fi room for gaming.

I thought 4 was the weakest, but that 5 front-loaded a lot of poor episodes, so it seemed a little worse than it was. I'd say season 2 was probably the high-point, though.

Also, if you took out the stargate, and the boxy puddle-jumper-cockpit panels on the wall, it does have a kind of cool star-trek-meets-medditerranian look to it. I like the door and frame, especially.

That's pretty darn cool, actually. Wonder if the 'gate has an iris that closes when you're not watching TV. I mean, you'd expect something like that for 70 grand, right?

Sean

Now I want to have a lot of money so I can make a home theater than looks like the Enterprise bridge.

Ooh, with the remote in the arm of the Captain's chair!
