SOmeone console me, i just finished watching voyager =[

Lt.Cmdr.LaForge

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
I just finished watching Star Trek: Voyager. A very sad occasion =[

Me and my house mate have been watching through TNG, DS9 and Voyager for over a year now (we only watch star trek together during uni term time and only around 4 episodes a day). Ive purchased them all on DVD (21 seasons, quite an investment).

Its been quite a journey and ive grown accustomed to having star trek around, im sure ull understand what I mean.

Now its over im sad. But now its like, over-over. When TNG ended I had DS9 to move onto, though I never though anything could replace TNG, I was wrong and grew to love DS9 just as much. The same happened when DS9 ended, but Voyager filled its boots nicely.

But now I have nothing to move onto its pretty sad, im not into Enterprise. I dont like the idea of coming on a journey through this time line then forgetting it all to go bak, way bak, before any of it happened. Plus, from what ive seen of enterprise its not too great.

But I guess a lot of you will have already been through this a decade ago when star trek was still airing on TV. (im only 20) Im jealous of those individuals =P

Anyway, just thought id share this. There are still a lot of us out there who are 'new breed' fans who are still going through this for the first time.

Final thoughts, End Game was a fitting ending to an incredible series. And if asked, I couldnt choose between TNG, DS9 or Voyager. Theyre all great!

P.s. My DP is a pic of me and Tim Russ when I met him at Collector Mania a few weeks ago =D

Condolences and salutations.

Yes, I remember that "last week" Voyager aired, and the only thing that helped me through it was looking forward to seeing Kate Mulgrew and Roxann Dawson 3 days later at a con in Cleveland with three friends. It was also the first time I got a photo with the Grand Ladies. Sigh. We were in Heaven!

As far as losing your Star Trek fix, have you watched TOS?

If you are considering moving on, I would reccomend "Farscape" and "Battlestar Galactica" (the new reimagined one.)

If you can't desert Trek yet, then you'll have to learn to love fanfic and fan vids.

Yeah i was thinking about Battlestar Galactica, it looks good.

I probably wont go through TOS, for the same reasons as not wanting to go through Enterprise. Im very much a 2300's man =]

When I first watched the 4 hour miniseries that introduced BSG... it was fairly okay but I saw it as a retread (believe it or not) on Voyager. A ship (yeah, lots of them) searching for Earth, lead by 2 (1 male, 1 female) strong personalities who butt heads in the first 3 hours.

Then a year (?) passed and season 1 started and showed what I thought was an incredible "hour" of TV. It was called "33".

All I'm saying, is don't write it off after the miniseries. Stick with it through the 13 ep first season.

It will BLOW you AWAY!

Enterprise seasons 3 and 4 are excellent. Please, please, please don't avoid it just because of some lame eps you might have seen. Imagine if you were introduced to TNG for the first time now and had to sit through some of the season 1 clunkers. I was bored by ENT initially, watching it on tv when it played late at night here. I ignored it for several years. But after watching DS9 and VOY through quite a few times I really wanted some more Trek. I waded through some feeling-their-way stodgy eps in ENT and it started to grow on me.. by the time I was finished I absolutely loved it. PLUS you will find plenty in Season 4 which anyone familiar with the other series will appreciate greatly.

Don't be like me and miss out on NEW TREK because of pre-conceived ideas and some sup par episodes.

It's about time that someone was jealous of me for something. I was hoping it would be for my looks, but I'll settle for someone being jealous of me watching a TV show during its first run.

Now give Enterprise a fair chance, it has Scott Bakula in his underwear on a pony!

Oh wait, that's a poor photoshop I made.

Well there's fan films you can consider moving onto?

Hidden Frontier ran for 7 seasons and has spun off into a few different shows since then, but it's a 24th century show starting after the insurrection Movie detailing the shape of the AQ after Voyager's return, and continuity wise kicks Voyagers ass, as we see characters and actors (literally) grow, if you can get past the horrible acting and Bluescreen sets. Seriously, it's either someone's backyard, a forrest or Bluescreen.

Let me qualify why anyone would put up with production values peaking barely into the hundreds of dollars.

THEY GAVE ELIZABETH SHELBY (TNG The Best of Both Worlds.) A STARSHIP AND THIS IS ALL (mostly... Barely.) ABOUT HER.

I watched all 7 seasons on VOY when it was broadcast and only this year did I start watching ENT on DVD. Give yourself 6 or 10 months and then try ENT. Watch the pilot and more on to season 3 like I did.
There is TAS to check out at least once. Just don't buy it. Borrow or rent it.
You own 7 seasons of VOY. You can rewatch any episode you want.
When you need a Trek VOY fix Try reading a best of list for VOY here and re-watch just those episodes.

REALLY. I LOVE ELIZABETH SHELBY. They should have blown Riker up and replaced him with Shelby.

So where do you watch this stuff, youtube?

I have watched all the double eps a gazillion times because they are so good.. as well as varying hilarious Doctor eps. The OP doesn't mention TOS. Everyone needs TOS, as a Trek fan you need to know your roots.

TAS is cool to me because I remember seeing it on tv, and was very excited to decades later get the dvd's. Same actors doing the voices, many of the same writers doing the stories.. I've never been a special effects girl, I can overlook just about anything so the cartoon style is fine by me. Who wouldn't want to hear Shatner and Nimoy again after only 3 seasons of TOS.. what a little treat that was. And then there is cool stuff like how even in ST:XI they used elements from a TAS episode!

You sound like you're in the exact same situation I was about a year or so ago. I had just finished watching all of TNG, and then DS9 and Voyager (both of them for the first time all the way through). I ended up loving DS9 and Voyager so much that I decided "what the hell", so I Netflix'ed season 1 of Enterprise. I ended up going through that whole series, and ironically, it became my favorite of all of them. I couldn't believe it.

If you really love Trek, and it sounds like you do, you really should give Enterprise a shot. Seasons 1 and 2 were really good, but seasons 3 and 4 were just exceptional. I think that overall the stories are more consistently engaging than any other Trek series.

I am anxious to go through TOS as soon as I get the chance. I haven't seen the entire series since sometime in the '80s. I've avoided in the recent past because it just seemed too dated and goofy, as I couldn't look at it and even begin to believe that any of it was taking place in the future. I think I might be about ready for it though.

I was extremely put off watching ENT when it aired - VOY was my favorite of the Treks, and I was absolutely crushed when it went off the air. So I wasn't really ready to give ENT a fair shot.

I have been as of late, and I think it's well worth giving it a try. TOS and TAS are, as others have said, worth checking out too, even if you do love the 24th century. :)

ALSO! As a VOY fan, I found Firefly captured that "family" feel really, really well. They're a tight-knit group on their own, and each character is awesome! There's not many eps in the series, but it's absolutely worth seeing the few episodes there are, plus the movie.

Shelby shows up after the first season as the ships new XO, and is a season later promoted to captain as the bloke they had starring in the episodes (Think Grand Nagus Zek but less ripped.) got promoted to commodore in charge of DS12 (hehehe.) and the local territories which is painfully Baku space.

So important.

You have to download the bloopers. Watching the cast fluff and swear non stop really humanizes the actors. The mouth on the actor who plays Shelby would make a sailor blush. I was of two minds about continuing through the worst of it until I started downloading the blooopers too.

If you keep watching long enough McKenzie Calhoun even shows up.

Yes, try ENT. It's plenty Star Trek, trust me. :) Alien species from TOS and the other series, plus new ones. I've watched it through a couple of times. It looks good, too. Widescreen.

Enterprise had even more promise and potential than Voyager. So sad that after 2 years of pissing that potential away, that they finally started turning it around, just as the show was cancelled.

I agree. I picked up the mini-series because folks on this board were talking about the show. It left me emotionally drained but still curious enough about what happened to pick up Season 1. I'm glad I did - "33" has to be one of the best hours of television ever.

OMG, it's a naked horse!

Thanks guys, it seems there are alot of Enterprise lovers in here.

Id trust your view points since you're die hard trek fans like me, and alot of you have been in my situation before. I think i will give Enterprise an open minded try. If its only half as good as TNG/DS9/Voy then itll still be worth goin thru all the seasons!

Like i said in the original post, after uve been through all of TNG, DS9 and Voy for the first time its like youve been on some epic journey and none of it was bad!

Hopfully Enterprise can fill the depressing and empty void that voyager left.

=]

Glad to hear it. I'd be interested to hear how it goes.

I was a huge TNG fan, and I rejected DS9 and Voyager when they came out. I tried here and there to watch an episode, but just couldn't get into it. It wasn't until I got the DVD's and watched from the beginning that I found appreciation for them. IMO, ENT starts out very strong, so I 'd be curious to see if it can hook you in early on.

In case you don't know, the third season of ENT is serialized. If you don't enjoy the first two seasons, I suggest you skip to the S2 finale and S3. I personally like the first two seasons, but not everyone agrees with me on that. Seasons 3 and 4 are absolutely brilliant.
