The idea of a Smallville version of Hawkman is a little scary to me. How can he possibly look right on a TV budget?

^ That's why I can't wait to see what they do. They pulled off a decent Doomsday, and Clark's flying scenes were among the best we've seen from a live-action Superman production, so who knows.

Problem with Powewr Girl is that she's an alternate reality's version of Kara. It would be far too confusing to introduce her.

What gets me about this is that they originally said the "Society" members would be from a generation past.

Michael Shanks, as someone who was a superhero "years ago"? And what's with Stargirl being among them? SHE'S A KID FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD! How could SHE be "from a generation past"? (Unless they're going to say she's "recently joined them" which would be in step with the comics.)

Michael's Carter gets me tho'...

How are they gonna pull that off?

Though Shanks shirt off and sweaty in his foundry being a blacksmith, hammer and tongs, whacking away at horse shoes for all I know in Eureka a couple years back was not the picture of a dweeb.

Thing I like about Hawkman? He's basically got a steel bowling ball on the end of a two by 4 of lumber, which he clubs people in the face with, and calls himself a hero.

The Punisher is a wussy.

Interesting. Hawkman and Dr Fate make a lot of sense. Both are the original versions of the characters and also the current, prime versions in the DC Universe today. Plus Hawkman has the "Dad factor". Meaning my Dad, or any other non comics fan, who watches the show and has not followed comics since being a little kid will still know who Hawkman is!

Curious to see the actual JLA lineup for the episode. Superman, Flash/Impulse, and Black Canary were members of both the JSA and the JLA. Same for Hawkman and Dr Fate. So this grouping can represent numerous eras.

This is Smallville. They could just come up with some completely new origin for her; doesn't have to be anything like the comic books (as others have proven). I don't expect Dr Fate, Hawkman or Stargirl to be anything like their comic book counterparts either. Ironically, however, in this case it would actually be in keeping with the comic book character to have a new origin. Or they could just borrow the Galetea variant from the JLU cartoon and make her a baddie. (I don't watch Smallville regularly, so there may have been another example, but to date the only comic character to appear on the show who actually looks, dresses and acts the way she does in the comics was Zatanna).

If they ever DO bring in Power Girl, and if they don't cast someone of the, erm, calibre of Christina Hendricks or Kat Dennings, they'll have proved they completely missed the point!

(Actually, in all honestly, Christina Hendricks is at the moment the only person I could see playing Power Girl if they ever did a movie.)

I saw this last night and was very pleased, especially being a Michael Shanks fan can't wait to see his Hawkman costume. They pulled off the Legion which IMO was the best episode of season eight. Since Geoff is writing this and probably has had some input into their characters for wardrobe (The Legion costumes worked out awesome) I'm highly confident they won't look stupid. I'm glad they are using Stargirl and Doctor Fate as well. I would have liked to have seen Captain Marvel but Billy and Mary are probably just babies at this stage in Smallville.

Is the Justice League supossed to be involved in this episode? No plot details have leaked yet. Kara could easily become Power Girl in Smallville instead of Supergirl. Too bad Laura is off doing V right now or else I would love to see her return this season.

I'm still waiting for a return for the Legion as well...all three of them...it'd be cool if they return for the finale this season. Or Mon-El shows up some how, maybe as Valor.
