Some perspective - what we thought after NEM trailers

For yet more perspective, lets see how rubbish the Nemesis trailer actually was:

It could be a trailer for a TV episode when compared to the new movies. Massive difference in scope, scale and quality. Star Trek ain't had a trailer like this latest one before, it even stands out against those of other blockbuster films. Lets hope the movie lives up to it though.. it's causing a lot of hype. :p

Thats actually a hell of a lot better than the trailer I saw recently on one of the DVD's which was just badly cut together action shots.

Though every trailer I've seen for a Trek film has been mediocre-dreadful until now. This one seems like they're making an effort to get people to watch it instead of relying on familiarity with the brand.

You know, that's what I noticed.

The trailer got panned by John Nolte at Big Hollywood , but mostly because he grew up with Shat, Nimoy, and DeForrest and he's used to them. He thinks that JJ is going for Trek 90210 and doesn't get the need for new blood and for rebranding, especially after B&B drove the brand into the ground.

Above all else, JJ is trying to do what Lucas did with the Star Wars brand, reach out to a mass audience.

I remember watching the Nemesis trailer, (back in college, haha) and showing it to my friends too. They all said stuff like "whoa, that doesn't look like star trek" and that was the end of it. But if their reaction is any indication, they have actually told me this time that they will see the movie. One even checked online to see if tickets were on sale.

But like others have said, there is no denying this new movie looks cool, so I am going to go to the theater excited and see what happens.

I hadn't watched it in a while, but that was a pretty shite trailer.

The unfortunate thing is, that movie had all the right pieces to make a great story, it was just put together in the worst possible way. I doubt we'll see that in this movie. We'll see. I still intend on enjoying it, that's for shit sure.
