Some Off Season TV News

And if you are a fan of Shit My Dad Says or The Defenders you won't be watching either show for long.

The Defenders moves to Fridays to finish up it's "season" and Shit is ending it's run and will be replaced by Rules of Engagement.

My favorite bit of news is that Fox's HORRIBLE Million Dollar Money Drop screwed up big time. The first couple on the show got the question right but Fox said they were wrong. Instead of just giving them a million dollars Fox wants a do over. If I were that couple I would be looking for a lawyer right now. Thankfully that crap won't be on much longer.

If CBS think Rules of Engagement is the right partner for TBBT then they are smoking crack. Two & Half Men or How I Met You Mother are the perfect shows for TBBT...To be honest the premise for failed piot pickup We Need Girlfriends (Hit Web Series) would of suited the TBBT audience over Shit My Dad Days.

With My Dad Says effectively DEAD, I will stop watching it but apart from 2 dodgy episodes I've enjoyed the comedy but it was always DOA after such a poor pilot. Thats the 2nd show I've stopped watching after SGU because there will be no conclusions to the show and probably Fringe will be cancelled after this season but am not giving up on my current number 1 show no matter what.

Least in recent weeks I've picked up Castle n 30 Rock, which both are amazing. :techman:

Drat! I really like "The Defenders" too.

Yeah easily my favorite of the new shows this season. Not sure why it didn't catch on, but I guess I knew this was coming.

I'm disappointed for Shatner's sake on his show, I was hoping he'd find yet another successful vehicle, but it was not to be. I wonder perhaps if this wasn't his "last hurrah" at least in terms of a regular TV role. :(

I see they're also moving Blue Bloods temporarily to Weds nights. I think they've lost their minds. Why move a show around like that? Looks like they're just trying to kill it.

Speaking of Shit My Dad Says, every time I watch this show I'm struck by how the main guy who plays the son doesn't appear to be acting but smirking because he's on camera with William Shatner. It's like his eyes just don't convey the emotion they're supposed to be doing and he's inwardly laughing at how clever everything is (which it isn't, really).

Blog aside, it was a watered down reproduction of All in the family lacking a few dimensions. It was YEARS before we saw Archies sensitive side or he relented in the slightest at making Meatheads life less than an ongoing hell fro being a hippy peacenik.

They could out dazzle a sitcom from 40 years ago.

Pisspoor.

So I wonder if Shat Dad My Dad Says winning the People's Choice Award will have any impact on it's future?

Doubtful. Firefly won awards too, as did Boston Legal. Both shows were canceled/not renewed due to declining viewership.

The Suits don't care about awards. Awards don't buy cigars, limousines and blow.

Firefly never had ratings and Boston Legal ratings held very steady. It was canceled because ABC hated the show and didn't want it on during the Obama years.

I think it makes them look stupid. They run the promo "Congrats to to SMDS for winning the People's Choice Award for best new comedy" and then cancel the show.

True on both accounts. But both shows received awards and/or were critically acclaimed and both were canceled in spite of any other factors at play. A show's acclaim with critics and awards ceremonies is hardly an indicator that a network will stick with a series, it's more about Benjamins.

On a side-note, I'm please Hugh Laurie won (again) the People's Choice awards which I think should be valued higher than the Emmys or GGs. People's Choice being made by those of us who are fans of the show or viewers, the others based on how up to date your dues/kick backs/protection money/hookers and blow meant to the people who select the winners. The GGs and the Emmys is the industry pretty much patting itself on the back with a courtesy reach-around. The People's Choice is the viewers. IIRC this is the fourth year in a row Laurie has won the PCA.

Twilight and GROWN UPS!!! won for best movies...

I mean really... right there proves the award show is a joke. :)
