Some new release dates

And again the new/wrong title for a DRGIII book sounds somewhat DS9-ish. I know he has already stated that these titles are wrong, but it only makes me wish for more DS9 written by DRG. Hopefully in 2013.

And I conveyed that by using not one, but two words (guess & probably) making clear that it's just guesswork on our part, so why did you make your initial post sound as if we were totally wrong, if you agree that it's ambiguous and the OCT-DEC slots are a possibility?

I don't know why it sounded to you like that.

Mhh, I always thought that when you start a reply to a post with "Except ..." you usually have a 180° different opinion to what you're responding to, espesciually when there's nothing in the reply to indicate that you acknowledge the guess in the post as a possibility.

I guess there was a mixture of you being a tad unclear and me overreacting. I apologize for my part in that.

I'm very surprised by that interpretation. That's not what the word "except" means in my experience. It refers to an exception, something that does not negate the assertion but is additional to it. For instance, if I say "The library is open seven days a week" and you reply "Except on holidays," then you're not denying the information I provided, you're merely adding further information that expands on my incomplete statement. And neither of those statements is an opinion; they're simple matters of fact. So adding a further fact to a statement of fact is not a conflict of opinions; it's simply adding more information to the table.

^I dunno about that. The title Chain of Destiny implies that it's somehow following up on threads from Destiny and A Singular Destiny, neither of which had much of anything to do with DS9.

It could also imply the destiny of "The Sisko" and the Bajorans, Eav'oq, and Ascendants with regards to the Prophets, especially as it was always Sisko's destiny to be the Emissary.

Consider that the blanket titles for duologies or trilogies are selected to satisfy the marketing department, not just the author or the editor. And from a marketing standpoint, the use of "Destiny" in a current Trek Lit title is more likely to imply "Hey, this is connected to that really popular trilogy" than something subtler about DS9 story threads or whatever.

Besides, there's what DRGIII announced about the duology on Facebook:

Quote removed upon request. Please see the facebook post for details. -LS

So only a "may" for DS9 characters, but a solid "will" for followup on Typhon Pact, which is in turn an outgrowth of Destiny.

Good point, though the fact that it may include the GQ still makes me think we're looking in that direction. I'm aware it is wishful thinking.

What happens if an author falls behind in writing a trilogy and the editors ask them to make major changes in the their stories. How long does such a delay changes when a book series can or will be published if other problems crop up with the books?

How long is a piece of string?

Anecdotes similar to your questions can be found in "Voyages of Imagination" by Jeff Ayers, in which almost every ST author relates quirky, unique writing/publishing stories. There is no one answer.

I am ridiculously excited for the new Voyager novel. As Kirsten Beyer was pregnant when she wrote Children of the Storm, I thought she had hinted she might not return to the Delta Quadrant for awhile. Glad to see I was wrong! Hers are the best Voyager novels I have ever read.

I apologize, for I am new to the forum, but could anyone tell me more about David Mack's new trilogy? Destiny was the finest piece of writing in the trek universe that I've read. I will continue to poke around, but if anyone can point this newbie in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

^^I don't think much is known about it at this point. It might be TNG or TNG-related, but otherwise we'll just have to wait and find out.
