Some Kelvin Kitbashing

MadMan1701A - Dude, slow down!!!!! How are we supposed to study and appreciate all this lovliness if you keep adding more lovliness to the pot? :p

Seriously though, fine job on this and your other work. :techman:
Thanks. :) I think I will slow down a little, since my wife is getting tired of me spending all of my free time making these things. :)

I'm going to work on just making different renders, and playing with some other ideas that I had when I was making these. Should have some interesting things to see. :)

Something I was messing with.....

Here's a question for you.

Let's revisit STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE. Let's assume the interior sets are essentially the same as what we saw in the series. Now, what if the outside of the ship looked like MadMan1701A's Kelvinized "Constellation", or something along those lines?

What would y'all think of that?

Sounds good to me. :) You have to think, though, that there would be almost a 100 year difference between enterprise and this, though.

Why not do an NX styled Kelvin? I could do a new texture to be darker/older.
I don't know, I kind of thought the textures on the NX-01 were too detailed, with too much going on, for no reason. I thought people of that era building things would probably still be painting them, you know what I mean?

(how are the ships coming along in legacy?)

I, personally, would like the Miranda version better with a Kelvin-style navigational deflector (i.e. center pylon) instead of the rollbar. I know you said you like the rollbar better, but would you consider doing it both ways, regardless?

Fantastic work, nonetheless. Good job matching the coloration of the new structures to the original, too. And the dreadnought is ten kinds of awesome.

Thanks. :) I might try that. The engine pylons might even look better, that way, as well.

OK, Here's another one of those "Doomsday Machine" images I have been working on. I actually took a little time with this one. :)

Next up is some stuff from Wrath of Khan.

Well, if it was built for just space, there wouldn't be a need for paint. Paint is mostly to protect from oxidization.

Yeah, I know. But the ISS got painted before it left the ground. :)

Madman, have you tried your new E model with the (apparently) much larger diameter saucer? I can't seem to make it work at all. (Looks like a giant saucer with tiny parts hanging off the back - ridiculous :)

The Doomsday scene is awsome, BTW. Perhaps as time permits you could recreate classic TOS scenes with these models. Would make some great calendar images.

I did fool around with it, but it looked kind of stupid. :) If the saucer is really that much bigger, maybe some of the other proportions are off? I really don't know.

On a unrelated note, I saw the trek trailer at the theater today, before "The Day the Earth Stood Still". The Enterprise being build on the ground scene was INCREDIBLE. Looking at it there, on the big screen, it REALLY reminded me of the TOS E. I mean, I never say one of the TOS movies in the theater, my first was First Contact, but It really got the nostalgia going. :)

About the other shots, I have been compiling a list and a folder of images of what I want to do. If anyone wants to post some suggestions (with a pic, if you can), I think I might do those, first. :)
