Some computer pet peeves

Just posting these here as a general rant, and also in case anyone know how to fix these problems-

Why is it sometimes when I press Control+C, it does not copy what I had highlighted? This isn't a simple miskey, I'm certain there are times when I've hit Control+C, then alt-tab over to the other window, and hit paste, and it pastes some old crap from earlier instead of what I just copied. So I have to alt-tab back over, Control+C again, alt-tab, and paste, and finally it pastes the right thing. In a job where I have to a lot of data entry this is an annoyance to say the least.

Why is it Outlook seems to pick whatever random font it wants when I reply to emails? I just went to reply to an email that was written in Arial 10, and for some reason it reverted me to a cartoonish Times New Roman 12. My email settings are to use Arial 10 pt blue for my replies but this seems to only work half the time, other times my replies take on whatever font characteristic of the email I am replying to (or, seems to pick one out of thin air).

Why is it sometimes I can change font color in Outlook but other times I can't? In the above example, if it warps me out of my usual font scheme somehow, I can usually change it back manually but sometimes it will NOT let me get the blue font color back. I highlight the text, I hit the color drop-down and click blue, and it stays black. The only way I can fix it is by converting to plain text, then back to HTML, but then all the formatting in the previous email I'm quoting goes to hell in a handbasket.

How can I get rid of those ungodly wrap-around images some people insist on inserting in the background of their emails? That's great that you email looks like a steno pad, now every reply I send you looks the same way too. Once again the only fix I've found is to revert to plain text and back to HTML, but this screws up the format of the previous emails in the chain.

Rant rant rant OK I'm done.

Why is it sometimes when I press Control+C...

Is it because the windows clipboard from xp onward doesn't work properly?

Why is it Outlook seems to pick whatever random font it wants when...

Is it because of default document templates, combined with the fact that font management in windows uses pointers to recently used fonts, instead of actual fonts? Could it also be because it sometimes fails to make changes in the registry if the application wasn't terminated properly?

Why is it sometimes I can change font color in Outlook but other times I can't?

Is it because the formatting codes have full compatibility with Word, so are overly complicated, and you never know what (invisible) formatting modifiers are active in a block of text? Not all of these controls are accessible in every text box.

How can I get rid of those ungodly wrap-around images some people insist on inserting in the background of their emails?

See above.

Rant rant rant OK I'm done.

Are you sure that's everything?

The clipboard problem possibly stems from remote desktop. Others have claimed to have cured the problem by doing this:

Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc

Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration ->
Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Terminal Services -> Client/Server data redirection -> Do not allow clipboard redirection
