Sombody has to remember this story...

I was reminded to day of a story I read many years ago. It was a very short story and I would love to find who wrote it so I can find and reread it. The title was "Mickey One." I have searched for it on the net but have not been able to locate anything about it. It takes place in a remote desert where, one day, something is discovered. Something REALLY big. I mean really large. (I won't say what in case you've never read it and want to.) It probably wasn't the greatest story I've ever read either. Nonetheless I would like to find it.

Ok, I'm curious...what was it they found?! Spoil me!

Well, to just tell you wouldn't make a lot of sense unless you realize that the whole story was a lead up to knowing what it was. The description was of a giant statue that had shiny black skin and gigantic yellow shorts. The buttons that held up the shorts by straps over the shoulders were immense.
As I recall they never really said directly what the figure was but one of the choppers that was circling the figure in the desert got a call from their HQ and they said they found another one in another part of the world. It was Minnie.

So, as you can see, it wasn't the best story in the world, but it kills me that my memory is so bad that I can't remember the author.
