Social Commentary in this new Star Trek show

We saw reporters recording the news at the start of Star Trek Generations, with camera-things on their heads.

From three different news networks, I might add (Federation News Network, Starfleet Broadcasting, Earth Broadcasting Service).

Also there was future Janeway watching the anniversary of Voyager's return in Endgame. There was nothing to show if it was the news or a documentary but it was some sort of televised broadcast (perhaps upon their return Tom popularized TV again.)

It was news.

They said "10th anniversary" and then said "Ferengi scandal" so it was about current affairs, even if it was about history.
