So what happened to the Equinox EMH?

The Voyager doc returns to "take back his sickbay". The Equinox doc threatens him with some sort of "photonic charges" before being cut off by the Voyager doc ordering the computer to delete the Equinox EMH, which it does, instantly.

So what happened to the Equinox doc?

Having come of age in a world where a computer will ask me if I'm sure if I want to delete a file, then putting it in a "recycle bin" before final deletion (and even then some files being recoverable for those who know how), I just find it hard to believe a program like that can be permanently deleted with a single command. Could someone walk into sickbay and permanently delete the Voyager doc that easily?

Was the Equinox doc recoverable somehow? Having a backup, (which the show was famously inconsistent about), would be handy. What do you think?

Voyager's Doctor had additional security installed.

SEVEN: Your programme was altered.
EMH: It's quite disconcerting to know that all someone has to do is flick a switch to turn me into Mister Hyde.
SEVEN: Perhaps you should enhance your programme with security protocols. It will prevent such tampering in the future.
EMH: Good thinking.
SEVEN: When I'm done regenerating, I will assist you.

Was it during Scorpion that the Doctor was holding as good as a deadman's switch?

The perverts and sex deviants got together and made some changes.

You can't see search histories any more, and there is no recycle bin.

IT'S ABOUT PRIVACY OKAY

What happens in the holodeck, stays in the holodeck. Until the replicator cleaning thingy kicks in.

Honestly, an emergency-EMH would have been a good idea. They only had the one doctor. They could have reformatted the evil EMH and stored him in sickbay while our Doctor used the mobile emitter.

^Tuvok empties it daily so other wont stumble across the holodeck perversions of the stranded Delta Quadrant crew.

Every year or so, the EHM has to "consume" an equally as complex Hologram into his holomatrix to avoid computer senility and system failure.

Seems a bit of a waste to just kill the other one?

Surely they should both have been thinking about eating the other one?

It's really should have been a question of who blinked first.
