I always scratch my head about how people will go after the flimsy plot devices in less popular movies (or the more recent films) and not point out stuff like this in TVH.

Even worse than leaving stuff behind was the fact that they took a woman out of her time and brought her forward into the 23rd century. Imagine the ripple-effects THAT would have on the fabric of the universe.

Just seems a bit odd, Uhura and Scotty removed any emblems from their uniforms (but still looked wildly out of place) but we are led to believe no one thought to leave their wallets at home just incase something happened.

I actually dealt with this in one of the Eugenics Wars novels. Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln stole Chekov's gear from the U.S. Military before any harm was done . . ..

I remember reading that and was going to post it. I thought it was an effective way to clean up the dangling plot point.

I believe he was Federation Security rather than Starfleet Security, but, yes, he an ID too... complete with high-tech LED numbers!
