So what are you reading now? (Part 3)

I just finished rereading Ex Machina by Christopher L. Bennett. It's probably my favorite TOS Trek novel. I wish that there were more novels like this filling in the time period between The Motion Picture and The Wrath of Khan.

The author of the Riverworld series and many other great SF novels. Also the biographer of John Clayton and Clark Savage, jr.

I just read the description on wikipedia, and all I can say is... wow. Definitely does not sound like my kind of thing.

Farmer often pushed the limit when it came to sex and sexuality in Science Fiction. As an old man of fifty I'm a little more taken aback by the content than I was at twenty. (go figure)

I've put Star Trek Rogue aside as it's not really doing anything for me and all the love for Hawk (dare I even say it's a bit Marty Sue) is somewhat grating.

To replace it, I finally picked up The Writers Tale: The Final Chapter by Russell T Davies and Benjamin Cook. Being a Doctor Book and being "Probably the best book ever written about scriptwriting" I was planning on reading it in a non linear sense, starting off reading about the 2009 Specials and Torchwood: Children of Earth first, but given the structure of the book, I think I should give it more justice by working from the front all the way through to the back.

I just finished a two day blitz on Christopher L. Bennett's The Buried Age. This was the first time I read over the book all the way and I have to say that it has entered into my top five TrekLit of all time. Very well done, perfectly imagined and stunning insight into the characters. I particularly enjoyed the Stargazer Court Martial at the beginning (I've always been a fan of legal drama, the inquiry into the Bombay's destruction in Vanguard: Harbinger was another of my favorite scenes). 10/10!
