So what are you reading now? (Part 3)

Someone gave me a Dungeons and Dragons book to read - Time of Twins - it's been a long time since I've read such garbage, I think I got about 50 pages in before I threw it down amazed at how something some awful could be released.

There is one funny moment however, where a character stops to listen his abilities like he's a playable character in a video game!

"I am able to summon zombies, I am able to command the weather" and so on...

I finished Captain's Blood. As much as I loved it I need a short break of Shatner-crazyness before I read Glory, so I'm reading What Price Honor. Even though what really happened to Ensign Hart is obvious from the get-go, I'm enjoying it. A great achievement, considering Malcolm is usually the second most boring character ever (after Chakotay).

Yeah. I think John Byrne did a comic book series recently. I haven't had a chance to track it down yet.

John Bryne's Assigment: Earth miniseries came out back in '08. I haven't read it yet either, but it seemed to get a positive reaction. He's also supposed to be doing a second series sometime soon too, but Memory Beta doesn't have any kind of release schedule for it yet.

Just finished Promises Broken. An excellent novel to bring an end to the 4400 saga, but very much an anticlimax at the end. The death toll is Mack-consistent and the ending itself is an interesting cliffhanger of sorts.

I am looking forward to see if someone picks up the 4400 novel line once things calm down at Pocket Books.

Now moving on to Brass in Pocket.

I just finished The Good That Men Do. I really wanted to enjoy this more, but it felt a little lacking to me. I love ENT and couldn't stand the show's finale, and was looking forward to see the authors undo that. But there was something missing for me. I felt like I was getting a lot of exposition to explain (or explain away) things that happened (or didn't) onscreen. Some of the characterizations felt a little off to me, especially Reed.

Still, I liked how the Romulan conundrum was handled, and there were other elements that warmed this fanwanky fan's heart.

I was going to read Kobayashi Maru or the Sundereed next, but I think I'm going to take a break and read another Trek author.

Next up: Vanguard Harbinger.

True. I'll give you that. He just was one of my favorite characters in the show, and I felt he was put to poor use in this book.

after buying a couple of old Trek books yesterday, I finished Triangle (see my thoughts on it on a thread I started), and am now moving on to Barbara Hambly's Crossroad.

After that, maybe Planet X (the TNG/X-Men corssover novel)..

I finished The Sorrows of Empire (original version) earlier. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read the expanded novel. I'm now reading The Worst of Both Worlds.

I thought it was time to meet the SCE, so i took a break from What Price Honor the read the first story in Have Tech, Will Travel. It was alright, but Geordi's frequent "Wow these people are all so nice and good at their jobs" moments grated a little and I couldn't really buy Gomez being in charge of a mission. I kind of expected more from the "pilot" of this series. I'll get to the next two in a few books' time.
I do like P8 Blue, but her in a phaser fight? Wern't they meant to be a race of cowards?
