Yes, and no. It would help if you've read the DS9 Relaunch, but you don't need to have read any of the other Gateways books. The Gateways books were all one big story, but each book was pretty much standalone focusing specifically on that series characters, and the area of the space they are in. While it would help if you'd read the previous DS9R books, I think you will probably be ok if you jump right into it. Just keep in mind that it is the fourth book in the ongoing series. It's actually probably one of the most standalone books in the series.
I have finished The Wounded Sky:

The idea that going to warp too close to a sun cases it to go nova is a strange one. It would seem the Xindi, the Borg, Nero, Shinzon and Dr Soran were doing things the hard way.
This novel was almost brilliant. The crew interactions were great, the characters spot-on. The fairly high-concept story made me wonder what Star Trek II would have been had TMP been a(n immediate) success. The added characters were introduced well. The space battle was very jarring after every other depiction of space battles in sci-fi (I know sci-fi space battles are utter BS, but they’re tremendously enjoyable BS!). I liked the inversion-jump sequences…until the jump to the centre of the anomaly.
WORST ENDING EVER.
Ever. Without equal of badness. In all of Star Trek literary history. It’s not only the worst ending, but the worst scene ever written. The mind-rape scene in Killing Time? Hilariously bad - I read it to people and we laugh our heads off. Instant classic. The Lever Of Death that (literally) flushed Borg homeworld down the drain in The Return? Cheesy, but perfectly fitting the Shatnerverse. The Trip-faked-his-death-for-hugely-implausible-reasons bit in The Good That Men Do? Dumb, but it didn’t affect me like this. The Wounded Sky? I’m embarrassed to have read it. I’m furious and insulted by it (and it takes a lot for me to get worked up about these things). I can’t believe such a brilliant novel jumped off a cliff like that. It was torture to force myself though. It degenerated into the saddest, most pathetic kind of obsessive fan wish-fulfilment imaginable. My Enemy, My Ally, Spock’s World and The Romulan Way are classics. But after the end of Wounded Sky, I can’t believe they let Diane Duane near Star Trek again. I can only imagine it was meant to be read under the influence of something or other. WTF was Diane Duane thinking? WTF were the editors thinking allowing it?
I know I’ve read The Wounded Sky before (albeit years and years ago). I can only imagine I gave up when things went bad (most likely), or maybe repressed the traumatic memory.
Up next: Resistance. I reach the end/start of my reverse trip though the post-TNG Borg Overload. Some here have slated it, and since I seem to love what you all hate (Star Trek Nemesis, anyone?), I’m sure I’ll find plenty to enjoy.

I remember loving The Wounded Sky and the Hamalki, but have no memory of the ending... Maybe I'll dig it out of my dad's loft when I visit next... Then again, when I finish Serpent, next up will probably be some Halloween-themed Koontz or King...
Dark Teatime is completely different Adams. Almost like a different person wrote it. I last read it probably 12 years ago though, so YMMV.
Oh, I think Dark Teatime was definitely written by the same bloke who wrote the last two Hitchhiker books. Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, though, is much better IMHO, and closer to the fellow who wrote Restaurant at the End of the Universe and Life, the Universe, and Everything.
Technically, Bill, Eoin Colfer wrote the last Hitchhiker book, and Dark was definitely not written by him
Just finished the Star Trek Destiny trilogy. Grand epic saga, with nods to the ships and crews we know, even the ones who weren't the major players. Intriguing Borg origin AS WELL as resolution. Going to be interesting, this shakeup of the Trek Lit U and how it might affect Trek in other mediums.
Gotta admit, the scene with the homecoming of the Columbia, that was a heart warmer.

Re-reading Anne McCaffrey's Freedom series. Almost done with Freedom's Landing.

I finished Unworthy and then read The Return of Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure of the Norwood Builder. I'm now about 1/3 of the way through The 4400: Welcome to Promise City by Greg Cox. Next I'll be reading The Return of Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure of the Dancing Men. After that I'm going to start on Star Trek: Vanguard - Reap the Whirlwind.
Reading Romulan War. Enjoying it so far.
VOY: Unworthy should be arriving any time now (I was hoping today... perhaps tomorrow). By next week I should also be receiving TTN: Synthesis and the second book in Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series, Fool Moon. I'm also waiting to borrow the second Harry Potter book from a friend. So four books coming my way. Not sure what order I'll read them in.
