I don't necessarily buy Blu-Rays on the day of release. Prices get cut fairly quickly over here.
I don't go to the cinema a lot because I don't have anyone to go with, so I reserve that for things I really want to see.
So... there's really nothing coming out this Summer is there?

I never let that stop me. On those times I don't have someone to go with I just go. It's a bogus stigma that's been attached to going to the cinema by oneself.
You sit in the dark for 2ish hours. A little chit chat waiting for the previews to start isn't something you'll really miss.
I just saw Robin Hood yesterday by myself. Due to my car shopping my schedule wasn't in synch with others, sometimes you just go.
Which is something I never understood. I saw Star Trek VI in the theater with my best friend on opening day in 1991, and that was fine. After New Year's 1992 I went to see it again on a rainy day that I was alone and had nothing to do (I was still driving then), and on this viewing, I found that I enjoyed the movie more, because I was able to watch it without my friend leaning over and saying something as he did four times at the December 1991 show.
Of course, it was only little things like "What did Kirk say?" or, I'm going to get a refill, you want one?", but still....
It's increasingly rare for there to be anything I want to see enough to warrant taking the time to go to the cinema, wait ages for the film to start and then put up with the crowded trains home.

"Get him tot he Greek" seems to the be R-Rated comedy of choice.
Also interested in seeing the Sandler, Schneider, James, Rock and Spade comedy, "Grown ups."

Get Him To the Greek looks horribly bad. Two actors that Hollywood hasn't yet figured out aren't funny.

Done that a couple of times myself if I haven't been around when the gang has gone. On a couple of occasions, I was the only one in the screen too. That felt a little strange at first.
I feel like Brand and/or Hill are the new Tom Green. For about 3 or so years Hollywood tossed him in 1-2 movies a year and finally he fizzled out cause he was a one trick pony dating Drew Barrymore.
Me neither. If I'm going to a cinema, I'm going there to watch a movie, not chit-chat with other people. I mean, if I do have someone to go with, that's fine of course, but it certainly isn't necessary. In fact, I'd say I go to the movies by myself far more often than I do with other people.
As for the thread topic, I must admit I had similar thoughts after looking at this summer's release schedule. There are definitely a few I'll see, but it looks much less interesting than last year, when we had Star Trek, District 9, Moon, Up, Drag Me To Hell, Inglorious Basterds, The Hangover, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince... not to mention Wolverine and Terminator Salvation, even if they did disappoint somewhat (I suppose I should also include Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen; yes, it was atrocious, but there's no denying it was one of the "event" movies of the summer).
This summer? Let's see:
Iron Man 2 - Seen it
Robin Hood - Maybe when it comes to the second-run discount theatres
Sex and the City 2 - Will definitely see it. Probably with my sister, as we're both fans.
Prince of Persia - If the reviews convince me it's actually managed to overcome the video game-to-movie curse, maybe I'll check it out when it comes to second-run, but that's iffy... not really interested.
Splice - Looks potentially neat... I'll probably check it out.
The A-Team - Maybe, but I doubt it.
The Karate Kid - No.
Toy Story 3 - Yeah, I'll probably see it.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - No f**kin' way.
The Last Airbender - I don't think so.
Predators - Yeah, I'll go see this one.
Inception - I'm intrigued, so I'll say "yes" to this one.
Salt - Another "maybe on second-run" movie.
The Expendables - I'm not terribly excited, but I could go either way. We'll see how I feel by August.
So, yeah... seems like slim pickings for the most part this summer. Ah well, I kind of need to save money anyway. Plus, there's always next summer.
It takes, what, about 12-18 months to make a movie, from pre-production to release?
Subtract 12-18 months from Summer 2010, and you have about late Autumn 2008 to late Spring 2009. Height of the financial crisis - not so much money swilling about to make particularly innovative movies, probably. So lots of sequel-fare, franchise-bankers and the like.
