so sexxxxxxxxyyyy

Well the Orion slave girls from Enterprise were in great shape, the green wasn't a turn on though. Some of the women MACOS were pretty hot as well. Dax's big "lesbian" kiss was pretty cool in DS9. ST is generally not a "sexy" show though.

Hot guys were few and far between in ST and from my point of view I was always dissapointed that the show pussed out BIG time on same sex relationships, a pity since they broke to many other taboos.

But if you had to pick

5. Tom Paris (liked the bad boy thing)
4. Westly (yes when I was younger I liked him, espechally in the grey suit, I admit it!)
3. Jake Sisko, always liked him (also look at the baseball episode in more...ehem...detail)
2. Trip, any time he had his shirt off
1. Travis from Ent definitly wins...big time

Here's my try at it:
1. Westly (had the opportunity to party with him... great guy, better in the StarFleet ensign uniform!)
2. Travis from Ent definitly wins...big time
3. Jake Sisko, always liked him
4. Tom Paris (liked the bad boy thing)
5. Chekhov, always liked his boyish good looks.

Good picks. I can't really argue with any of them. My godson loves Jake Sisko, because he looks like him.
I also agree that ST was lacking in the cute guy and the same sex relationship categories as well. :vulcan:

They did try a little bit, with the Riker episode that basically covered reparative theraphy (which I realized on the gay trek thread some people think works...jesus)
They also tried with the Dax trill episode, but lets face it Lesbians are not controversial, they're a ratings boost!!! and they were not lesbians anyay.

I never thought they should make a whole episode about or or blow it out of all proportion just have one regular character who is, or even a guest star.

Believe it or not, I feel the same way. I'm in the closet, for several reasons I won't discuss. I never thought they should put it on a soapbox, just quietly portray it as accepted.

Slightly off-topic, but to address the gay character issue, Sector 7 and PhoenixIreland, in one of the novels, they established the character of Lt. Hawk from the movie First Contact was gay. Also, two characters in the Titan series of novels are gay. They simply present them as gay and don't get on a soapbox about it. As I recall, one of them is the security chief, so it's not gay stereotyping. That may appeal to both of you. -- RR

Thank you! Not having read any books recently, I did not know that. It is still a far cry from seeing someone like me on screen. I imagine it will be like a black person seeing Uhura or the black doctor (can't find his name) on TOS for the first time. :vulcan:

The page about this topic on wikipedia mentioned several instances in TNG when they wanted to include a gay character, I recall a couple in the background in 10 forward was even nixed by the producer apparently.
As well as a story Gene wanted to do that alluded to the 80s AIDS crises

If only Travis could be gay...with lots of sex scenes, any exuse for him to take that shirt off more than those two times..oh well.. Im a pervert!

Yeah, they really could've used a gay character. I'm not sure if they had enough hot guys. I'll think a guy is appealing, then later see another episode and not know what the hell I was thinking. It doesn't help that they chub out over the course of several seasons.

I don't think you are in the closet anymore. This is a public forum.

I remember when I saw TOS "Elaan of Troyius" for the first time back in the 60's (I was a kid) I thought she was pretty sexy.

Thats a good point there was more sex appeal in TOS in the 60s than TNG, DS9 or Voyager.

Ent had Tpol, Trip and Travis and to an extent Archer, and I suppose you can count seven.

But I was sugesting it in this sense not to pull in ratings like those examples but to play to the brighter future theme ST has always had, a future where a circus is not made of it, but it's background noise just like everything else.

Yes, TOS wasn't as overt as later Trek incarnations. They had much harsher censors to deal with (like not showing belly buttons, or you can show the underside of a breast but not the top). But they still managed to have some sexy, even erotic scenes. How about the dynamic between Khan and Lt. Marla McGivers in 'Space Seed"?

Or the first interracial kiss on television between Kirk & Uhura

And there's always the Orion slave girl

Just a friendly advice: Hotlinking is a no-no on this board. So you might want to edit your post ... :)

Do you really think the Khan/McGivers relationship was sexy? I mean, yeah, I think it was in some scenes, but certainly not the one you are showing above. I only found that violent.

So noted and edited.

I was speaking about being erotic in that scene. For the 60's at least. It had a whole semi sadomasochistic thing going on which was way over the top for TV at the time but the censors didn't pick up on it.
