So, now this nu universe has borg tech

Lt. Trull

Fleet Captain

what are they going to do with it.... those 24th century borg tech torpedos that nero fired at spock's jellyfish right before she went to warp didn't explode, just continued on their path till they ran out of fuel and drifted in space until star fleet intelligence picked them up.

I was under the impression that when torpedoes expended their fuel and didn't hit their target they auto destructed to prevent another species finding them and back engineering the tech.

Comic books aren't canon. Even the writers said so.

As far as we know, those torps are standard Romulan mining ordinance.

So what the writers of the movie wrote to explain the villains back story in their own movie while labeled as the "Official Star Trek Prequel" were actually all for nothing?

It was made for the same reason the new movie was: to make money.

I'll try to find that interview, though, where they state it's not canon.
