So, I went to the New Orleans Auto Show today...

Classic Corvettes on display... behind some ropes I wasn't allowed to cross.

Wow, those cars are just

.
Absolutely gorgeous.

Yeah, I hate when that happens. I'm 6'3" and it seems like most of the really nice cars are a poor fit for me.

Same here. An aerodynamic roof doesn't leave much in the way of headroom when you're 6'6." I would have to lean my chair so far back to drive no one could sit behind me.

Love that dark blue Challenger and the silver and black striped Camaro, though. The red 'Vette is nice too.

Oh, about all those Corvette pics: I think i just came. :o

It's a wonder there's any jizz left in the world after you're done.

GMC is redundant since they are simply re badged Chevy's.

True. However, it plays a much larger role in the company than Saturn ever did. Also, the Medium-Duty trucks GM produces are almost always GMC. The only time I see a Bowtie on any Medium or Heavy-Duty vehicles would be wreckers and the telephone/cable company's vehicles.

I don't know if it was at New Orleans, but Chrysler also rolled out the 200C EV at the Detroit and Chicago shows; it's a hybrid similar to the Chevy Volt in concept, but larger, based on a shortened 300 chassis...

Sadly, it was not at the show. MOPAR'S presence was minimal. Ford wasn't there at all. I didn't even pay attention to the foreign stuff.

I absolutely abhor badge engineering . . .
here's a good car, but let's slap a different name and sticker on it so we can sell it to these people over here also, and for twice as much!

the Pontiac Solstice is the Saturn Sky is the Opel GT
that's 2 too many

^Agree about the Pontiac, but the Opel is neccesary since neither Pontiac or Saturn exists in Europe.

As for the rebadgind I agree that it's silly when it comes to GMC.

And I'm drooling over those pics of the Vettes. Especially that of the LS3 V8! I can not wait until I finally get my Camaro with one of those babies in it....

GMC might seem superfluous but, it makes money. Therefore, it stays. I used to think of them as the pick-up truck equivalent of a Cadillac but, then Cadillac had to go and make their own trucks and SUV models. That made GMC superfluous but, the damage can be undone. Just have Cadillac go back to focusing on cars instead.

After all, do we really need the Escalade EXT? No. Let the Redneck Lottery Winners go back to buying luxury trucks from GMC like they're supposed to, dammit!

^^
Actually, the Cadillac trucks aren't really redneck luxuries - they're urban status symbols. Cadillac actually tested them with hip-hop audiences to see how big the chrome pieces needed to be to pass muster. :wtf: They have gangsta cred.

So that's why I've been drifting more towards Buick in recent years... besides the lower cost, more voluptuous styling, great quality (not that Cadillac isn't great in that department as well), my own previous experiences with the brand, et al.

If I had a car company, I wouldn't appeal to the hip-hop community. It would alienate everyone else.
