so i have to ask but what was the enterprise doing this whole time.

ok i know it destoryed in generations but really what was the enterprise and her crew doing druing the whole season well after it got destoryed. i mean how come the flagship of star fleet was never part of the dominan war. granted in the changing face of evil that porably would have been a bad thing but still you would think the enterprise and her crew would be a big part of the war. but its never mentioned or heard from its basicly doing "off screen stuff"

Uh...you answered your own question. It was doing "offscreen stuff".

ok but why. what could be more important for the flag ship of the federation to be doing then being on the frontlines of the war.

Re: so i have to ask but what was the enterprise doing this whole time

There's absolutely nothing to suggest it WASN'T on the frontlines of the war. For one thing, what we saw on DS9 was not the entirety of the Dominion War.

Secondly, it's a production reality, not an in-universe one. Paramount didn't want the Ent-E on DS9, so it wasn't on DS9.

i know the second point you made is why but yeah its just seems odd that the flag ship of the federation was off screen.

Re: so i have to ask but what was the enterprise doing this whole time

^why? The show isn't about them. Plus, the Federation is a big place. The front lines were all over the place, in 4D. To expect the E-E be there with the Defiant is a bit silly.

Re: so i have to ask but what was the enterprise doing this whole time

The Enterprise may well have been involved in some stuff we never saw.

Then again, it may not have been too involved.
The whole flagship thing may have made them wary of putting the Enterprise out on the front lines.
Starfleet was losing many many ships in the war.
It'd be a hell of a thing to lose your flagship (as it seemed to be a big deal to them).

yeah i guess your right its just i wish we knew what the enteprise was doing.

Re: so i have to ask but what was the enterprise doing this whole time

This is like that stupid embargo thing WB did when they wouldn't let people making the cartoon "The Batman" use The Scarecrow and Ra's Al Ghul because they were being used in "Batman Begins" and then "Justice League" couldn't use The Riddler because he was on "The Batman".

It's idiotic and makes no sense. Supposedly the reason is because viewers would get "confused" seeing all these different interpretations of the same character out there in pop culture at the same time. Yeah, right. This is the same kind of thinking Paramount probably had.

Like the universe is going to collapse on itself if the Enterprise-E is shown on screen in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" while the TNG movie series is still active. A tiny little cameo just to add some weight to the war by showing that the flagship is involved wouldn't hurt anyone. I would have liked to see cameos from the whole cast of that series too, but I know that would be harder to do for budget reasons, so I don't mind it not happening so much. On the other hand, I don't think there's any good reason for the Enterprise not being in at least one shot.

you took the words right out of my mouth i mean this is why its called a spinoff. you are allowed to have characters from the other show show up for a cammo once in a while. heck would it have really cost too much to make an episode where the ds9 crew and enterpirse crew interact at least once.

Re: so i have to ask but what was the enterprise doing this whole time

Yeah, it probably would have been pretty costly. I think another reason they avoid this is to let each show stand on its own without relying too heavily on earlier, more successful shows like TNG to prop up the later, less successful shows.

Re: so i have to ask but what was the enterprise doing this whole time

Trice on TNG, the Emissary, Way of the Warrior on.

but they dont have to rely on the tng it would be a camio to show hey the enterpise is still around and doing stuff other then "saving the poor baku"

all the way of the warrior did was just add worf and honestly it was pretty contrived in frist contact how worf was the only one comanding the defant. not even chef obrien was able to make it into frist contact. like seriously what was up with that it just felt contrived if anything.

Select characters crossed over. Same on Voyager. It was never the whole crew showing up or the ship saving the day. If they had included the Enterprise in a few shots of space battle scenes, I guess that would have been reasonable, but I don't think anything suffers for not having it there at all.

Re: so i have to ask but what was the enterprise doing this whole time

Yes. But they don't have to. My point is that the E-E's not showing up in a shot is not a plot hole or a problem. They didn't show up. So what?

your right nothing suffers in the long run. like i said it just feels odd that well the enterprise was never really mentioned at all except in the frist episode.

Re: so i have to ask but what was the enterprise doing this whole time

This is like asking why the USS Enterprise of World War II wasn't at the invasion of Normandy. Space is big, the war was big, thousands of ships were involved. Having two specific ships team up by convenience seems to be a needle in the cosmic haystack.

Additionally, as important as the Defiant was in the war, I like the fan theory that the Enterprise was serving a role similar in scale, but different in operation, at the other side of the frontlines (for example, if the Defiant was leading a number of offensives, the Enterprise may have been tasked with coordinating defense, which is just as important). Others have posited that the Enterprise was running dangerous diplomatic missions to other intra-Federation planets to gather more allies and resources in the war.

Re: so i have to ask but what was the enterprise doing this whole time

What's more odd is that voyager was never mentioned despite being their last port.

Re: so i have to ask but what was the enterprise doing this whole time

yeah its just i mean i loved the off screen cities in the 37s and the offscreen jugler in investations i think thats the episode where nelix makes his own tv show. off screen abucation of dr bashier. changing the unifroms out of the blue. and oh yes hearing that the maquis were killed off screen. yeah seriously off screen moments are always fun. btw i understand why they had the off screen abudtion for dr bashier but still.
