So; I come to YOU

Is there one character in the TREK universe that you would go to if you needed some words of advice. Yeah, I know, these are not real characters, and that TREK is science fiction. But you know what I mean. If you could blink your self into that universe and seek out some words of advice who would you seek out? Spock? Kirk?...or heck..GARAK!!!???

That depends on the advice I would need. A lot of those characters are knowledgeable in specific areas, so I would seek them out for the specific knowledge they possess.
If it would be for just a chat, I'd pick Bones. He's the most likable of them all.

I agree with what Captain Gandalf said (except the McCoy part - I'd rather hang out with Bashir and O'Brien), but if I had to pick one for advice, it would be Ambassador Spock. He's personally wise, plus he's had the opportunity to share the minds of other intelligent people.

Guinan. I can't think of another character on any Star Trek show more wise and funny at the same time. Just like any time I watched a crew member talking to her, I'm sure any conversation with her would be both enlightening and entertaining. As has been stated in another thread, she was a much, much better counselor than Troi. She was always warm, thoughtful, and insightful, with a subtle way of being instructive and encouraging without coming across as preachy or selfishly imposing.

I admit Bashir and O'Brien would be the best bet for some holodeck fun. Those guys know how to have a good time!
Guinan would be a good choice for more spiritually oriented conversations.

I'd have to admit that Guinnan seemed to have the most inherant wisdom. If I was in need of counselling, I'd go to her. Otherwise, I was thinking Jadzia. She, too, seemed to have good insight to how the universe spun. I would also try bending the ear of Boothby. I guess it might have something to do with the long lives.

Hmmm...it really depends on if we were talking about work/technical advice or life/relationship/friendship advice.

For the former, it would really depend on what kind of expertise was necessary.

For the latter...Tekeny Ghemor. He seemed very wise and to have a good, strong moral center, but he was never overbearing or creepy about it (where to me, Guinan was sometimes creepy)--instead, he had a great warmth that makes him seem very approachable. And he also seemed to understand how to approach a person at different times, what they needed. Sometimes giving advice--especially when someone is in a rough patch--is just as much about knowing when to listen and when to comfort...not just give the facts.

For advice in the Trek universe, I'd go to Boothby, the gardener at Starfleet academy. Anybody who could advise Picard on his life and career would be somebody worth talking to for advice.

Just to hang out with, I'd pick Scotty. He's an old space dog with plenty of good stories to tell.

I'd visit Bones in sickbay. Out of all the characters of Star Trek I value his opinion the most. :techman:

But it would also be cool to just hang out with either Chekov (my favorite TOS character), Geordi (when I need someone who knows how it feels to be rejected by a woman), Riker (when I need someone who tells me how to get a woman ;)) Jake (when he was my age), Kes (well, because it's Kes goddamnit ) or Trip (how cool would that be to watch some old sci-fi flicks with this guy ;)).
