Maybe the island will heal him. It's been known to happen to people when the island "isn't done with them".

Bulletproof vest. He's obviously a fan of the Spaghetti Westerns. And "Back to the Future". (In the future.)

Jin will wake up and rush him back to the Dharmaville, Jack will then patch him up, D.I. will get suspicious of Jack the Janitor knowing how to do this. Jack finds out that its THE BEN. Hilarity ensues!

I think the most likely scenario is that he's rescued by Richard, which is more or less "the island heals him", so I picked that one.

I also voted for "more bug eyed than usual", because it was funny.

I think that it's actually an alternate reality that the Oceanic peoples have been transported to, a reality in which Ben does in fact die.

I think this because of the book that Ben gave Sayid in jail. It was about alternate realities. I think this is a major clue!

Actually I am only partially serious. Anything's possible with this show, so an alternate reality wouldn't surprise me (it also avoids paradoxes, which the writers said they're definitely trying to do). It doesn't seem likely and it's probably a far-fetched idea, but it's possible.

I think the Island wont let him die. But I like the problem created should Jack have to step in the operate.

Actually that sounds similar (at least as much as my feeble brain can understand) to the explanations we've heard from the producers of the new Star Trek movie, which happens to be a Abrams project too.

Hmm.

Actually, the bullet passed through the gaping hole where his cold, cold heart should have been.

It will be a combination of Island healing and medical intervention. I doubt it will be a literal resurrection (since Christian and Bentham both died OFF Island).

^ I agree. The island will heal him--either by getting medical help and surviving, or being found barely alive (by Jack? Richard?) just in time. He will survive, and people will say how miraculous it is.

He can't die in the past, since he clearly was/is alive in the future.

I also like the idea that Jack'll have to save him. It has cool implications for where the story's at now and it's also a nice bit of symmetry.

There's also some cool ideas that Damon and Carlton brought up regarding Ben's shooting. It sounds like idle speculation, but these guys write the show so I guess it could be spoilery:

What if you went back in time and tried to kill Hitler as a child, but he survived. And the irony is that you trying to kill him in his youth made him become Hitler!

That's just cool shit, if you ask me.

Am i the only one who found the shooting of a 14 year old boy pretty damn horrific? The only thing that saves it is we know what he becomes.

^^^ It did shock me when I saw it. But it was a fairly violent episode overall. (Most of Sayid's episodes seem to be.)
