So far shaping up to be one of my favorite final seasons

Lost Season 6 is shaping up to be one of my favorite final seasons (my other favorites are Six Feet Under, the Sopranos, and the Shield). Here are my reasons why:
  1. Season 6 is resolving lingering questions of the show without making the resolutions feel like we're going down a checklist.
  2. It's using the sideways universe stories to get to the core of who the characters are, what drew us to them in the first place, and to act as a tribute to the show's past.
  3. You get a looming sense of the show's impending conclusion right from the beginning of the season.
  4. We have seen a number of familiar faces from the show's past make nostaglia-provoking appearances: Faraday, Charlotte, Libby, Charlie, Alex, etc.
  5. The Smoke Monster being the Big Bad of Season 6 unitifes all the other seasons and makes this season feel like we're watching the final volume of a series.

The whispers reveal did have a slight "Checklist" feel to it, but it doesn't really diminish the overall worth of the season or the series, so I'm ok with it. I'm quite enjoying this season, but I did all the others as well. It may turn out to be one of my all time favorite shows

For the most part it's been a good season. The weakest part were the Temple Others. I still don't know why we had to waste weeks introducing Dogen and Lennon, and why they are so frustratingly obstinate. There were a couple of times I started getting anger-filled flashbacks to Season 3.

God, I hate The Others. They're just so damned boring. Old Others, new Others. I cheered when Smokey finally whooped their asses.

I also really wish they had started 'connecting' the Sideways story to the island story sooner in the season.

This episode is well handled with a perfect amount of nostalgia and branching out in new directions. Normally, I tend to hate final seasons because I'm mad the show is ending, but I think I'm able to enjoy this one anyway.

LOST's last season kinda reminds me of the last season of Twin Peaks....

Weird Sh-tuff happening all over the place, yet it fits in perfectly with what happened before on the show....
