What would happen? The Big Red Cheese would finally get a title under his own name for the first time in 60 years.
This...would be awesome!
No.
Just no...
The logical thing for Disney to do would be to dissolve DC and fold it into Marvel, why would they want to own two subsidiaries who are doing exactly the same thing?Let's just say, for the sake of discussion, that WB decides to sell DC Comics/Entertainment and Disney buys it.
What would this look like with regards to comics, animation, TV, and film?
No to DC/Marvel? Or no to Captain Marvel?
My only question is, how did this board exist for over a decade before someone registered the user name Spider-Man?
THIS. But with a lot more foul language, and something about Superman wearing his damned underwear the wrong way now.Worse than who has now, Marvel, DC, or both?
DC. They've gone way overboard with this New 52 nonsense, and completely lost sight of what made their superheroes so popular in the first place. Far from rebooting, simplifying and clearing away all the decades of continuity barnacles, things are more convoluted and confused than ever. To say nothing of the behind-the-scenes editorial chaos that's got the company hemorrhaging creative talent and doing character/storyline spinouts with nearly every new issue. Trying to recast every single superhero in Batman's dark-gritty-n-depressed mold (like NotSoSuperman) ain't helping. Where's the fun?
This.

That or they got name purged some time in the past and freed up.My only question is, how did this board exist for over a decade before someone registered the user name Spider-Man?
Well, it was a long time before someone registered Superman (and a few other similar names as well).

I find Marvel much more of a mess. I've no interest in the X-titles, though I've been a fan since GS X-Men #1. The Avengers have too many titles and suffer from big ideas with poor execution.
Wouldn't Disney owning both Marvel and DC be some kind of anti-trust violation? If not, than it would still feel like the apocalypse will be upon us if that happens.
The G-man said:Some interesting anecdotes from Jim Shooter about the time that Marvel almost did "buy" DC.
In the comments, Shooter mentions there were some antitrust concerns raised that ultimately scuttled the deal [but that he doesn't think it was going to end up being a problem if the two companies really wanted to pursue, especially in the modern era].

Of course, if that happened they'd have to change the titles. A company that has books named The AMAZING Spider-Man and The UNCANNY X-Men has to add some superlatives:
The Astounding SUPERMAN!
The Mysterious BATMAN!
The Courageous WONDER WOMAN!
And so on...

Allegedly, the reason there have not been any DC/Marvel crossovers in over a decade is because of Marvel's EIC Joe Quesada. He said he wouldn't allow them while he's EIC. But he would allow Spider-Man to make a deal with the devil to annul his marriage with Mary Jane. He also signed on to Ant-Man divorcing his wife. I think the guy just has a thing against marriages.Let's just say, for the sake of discussion, that WB decides to sell DC Comics/Entertainment and Disney buys it.

This is one of the biggest nerd dreams of all, so dream big and share with us.
I don't have any specifics myself, but I think I'd definitely like to see stories pairing Peter Parker and Clark Kent in both identities. Same with Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark. Or how about Tony Stark and Lex Luthor butting heads?
There's the thought of epic Justice League/Avengers teams (or maybe one team, "The Justice League of Avengers?") and battles only previously dreamed of, like Hulk vs. Doomsday or Captain America vs. Deathstroke.
The one thing I wouldn't want is the "Amalgam" approach. That only managed to produce one really cool idea, IMO (Super Soldier) and would diminish the teams/characters/concepts being combined.
