So Close To The End...

Nardpuncher

Rear Admiral
I just watched the end of season 5...and felt like there should be only 2 or 3 more episodes to tie it all up.
Don't get me wrong...I'm delighted there will be a 6th season and all...but I felt like The Incident answered so many questions, or at least told us where they were going with the show...that it almost feels like it could be over and done in a few more episodes.
Don't ask me to explain everything though..I'm not saying I figured it all out!

Well, considering the shorter TV seasons these days, "a few more episodes" is actually what we're going to get. ;)

You're right, but I really think that I never felt cheated with this 15-17 episode thing that season 4 and 5 have been. It felt like a full season.

That's true, I never felt cheated either. The shorter seasons never seemed too short to me. But I think in terms of what the writers are actually able to tell within 15-17 episodes, they are much more restricted now compared to the 22-24 episodes of earlier seasons.

However, I remain confident that the writers of Lost are able to deliver another season full of interesting and entertaining episodes. :)

We probably just missed out on flashbacks.
I would've prefered 25-episode seasons...but they did a good job with what they got.
Now that I think about it...it's funny that they wouldn't have gone back to 25 or whatever episodes since the strike is over.

If anything Season Five felt a little rushed. We should have seen more of the Dharma cast (unless they're remaining in the Seventies for S6

If anything Season Five felt a little rushed. We should have seen more of the Dharma cast (unless they're remaining in the Seventies for S6 which I doubt). What happened to Amy? And Horace? And Radzinsky? And Chang? And Roger? And we never got to see Annie or Horace's sister/wife again, who are supposed to be so important to the story!

Here's a little semi-spoiler:

They mentioned that Radzinsky blew his head off before Clancy Browns's character started pushin the button.

There's so many unanswered questions that, in context of the big picture, are minor. But I fear they'll never get answered. In that sense, it feels like there's too little show left.

I expect the last season to be more on island plot driven anyway. I expect many of the main characters have used up all flashbacks (I thought this before, but the flashforwards changed the rules so they could add a couple more stories). Now it feels like the only characters needing flashbacks are Ben, Richard, possibly Jacob (although that might be difficult), probably Esau, probably Desmond, and maybe Claire and Hurley.

That being said, that's almost half the episodes next season. But the main flashbacks of Jack and Kate seem exhausted and it'll be weird skipping them, so my guess is that they'll use them sparingly.

I think Season 5 was rushed... but hopefully the cast will be reunited and we'll get a single flashback free story for the sixth season.

I didn't think the season felt rushed at all. It seemed to drag a bit before the finale. All in all, though, I thought the season flowed pretty well. I was ready to call a shark jumpin' on the series as soon as I saw them time traveling in the first episode ("Oh, great, they're doing Quantum Leap again! Where will they end up next week?") but I've got to hand it to the producers. For me, this season goes right up there with seasons one and two.

Before the end I need to find out what happened to Claire she is like the forgotten babe of LOST.

^^It's weird how how little the characters seem to care about Claire's disappearance. They've all seemed much more interested in pushing forward rather than worrying about her. It was really strange early this season when Daniel asked them if any survivors weren't accounted for, and Sawyer of all people said only "Locke." After his sudden interest in protecting her last season and yelling her name over and over at the end of "Something Nice Back Home" (which was what, barely a day ago for him at the time?) that was a big "huh?" moment for me. I'm sure the writers will be bringing her back, but it's kind of a weird dropped ball that the remaining characters aren't all that bothered.

Claire is supposed to come back as a series regular for S6. I always found her pretty forgettable in the first place so I wasn't shocked when everybody promptly forgot about her! Besides, this is three years later for all the characters! Just remember how "quickly" they forgot about Boone and Shannon who at the end of S4 only died like two months earlier.

I'm just wondering if we're likely to see any cameos from anyone like Charlie or even Eko. We've already had a minor Ana Lucia Cameo which was nice (even though she was one of the DUI bunch).
