So.. are you anything like your favorite?

What makes us like a certain character? Do we like what we recognize in ourselves? See a female, an age, or a look and it kind of validates us? Like representation? Or is it something like attraction?

Tuvok is my favorite character, among favorites. Why? I just find myself watching his responses in scenes where he is listening for example when I should be watching the speaker. Maybe its his strength of honor. Seeing someone who restrains their emotion then showing it.. has impact.

I resemble nothing of Tuvok. Gender, complexion, although age wise I've caught up over the years. There is one thing though. Composure.. we have the same composure!

I am pretty similar to Janeway in several respects, most importantly I share her interest in both humanities and sciences. Also, in most situations I feel the same way she does and I would react the same way she does. The only exception is ENDGAME. There we don’t see eye to eye on how she brought them home.

But then that was Admiral Janeway … so yes, I am pretty similar to Captain Janeway … I hope!

Mind you, since I like everyone on that show I find I have something in common with everyone. E.g. I have as much hair as the Doctor!

I adore Janeway and Seven equally, for different reasons. Janeway has always inspired me, I admire her more than any real person I have known and despite my defiance with regards to authority, I would gladly follow her. Janeway is magnetic, compassionate, brave and incredibly intelligent. I have always wished I could be like her but I failed. Anyone who knows me, would never compare me to her. The person on Voyager that most resembles me is Seven of Nine. I do not physically look as perfect as she does but in terms of personality we are almost identical. Despite my efforts to improve, I never quite grasp the art of social interaction. I have come a long way and am not as bad as season 4 Seven, but definitely season 7... Seven has her assimilation to thank for her behavior and I have Asperger's. People in school would try to make fun of me by telling me I was Seven but the joke was on them because it was a compliment! The beauty of having no friends in life is that you study a lot and become really smart. I remember Seven's arguments with Janeway and her lessons with the Doctor. Teenage me soaked that up..

I like Kes but since I'm male I'm not like Kes in looks and I'm not like her in behavior either.
Kes just looks like someone I've never really forgotten, that's all.

As for behavior and manner, I'm probably a cross between Paris, Chakotay and Torres. I have Paris's weird humor, Chakotay's way of taking control of things and his spiritual side plus Torres's lousy temper.

I do admire Tuvok but in reality I would be like the female in that episode. At least in behavior and yet I don't much care for her. Much rather be a Janeway!

I think everyone (perhaps even secretly) wants to be like Janeway. I can't think of anything I would improve about her. -Okay, maybe her food replicating skills

You know I really think Harry is relateable-he struggles with women(Barklay without the added awkwardness).

Tom seems like a guy I wouldn't mind chilling with.

Tuvok seems like an excellent security officer

I don't really have a favorite character, but I do have a favorite actor: Vaughn Armstrong.

And while he has of course played a wide range of Trek characters, none of which are anything like me , I do admit that his portrayal of Admiral Forrest in ENT reminded me a lot of my father (who I am very close to).

That said, if i had to pick a Voyager character who I most identified with, it would probably be Tuvok, because I try to see the order and logic in life whenever I can. Plus I'm not a very emotional kind of person either.

My favorite is Kes, and while I look nothing like her, I do have some character traits similar to her. I'm nurturing and kind I hope.
But I'm also kind of outspoken and brash - I have a fair amount of Lwaxana Troi in my personality too. So try and imagine those two personality types in one person.
