So all the Ferengi were just gay enough? But what about Rom?

One of the Rules of acquisition is "Always sleep with the boss" which is fine enough considering before Zek got brow beaten, that no women were allowed to conduct business, so the boss and the workers were always both men... Now poor Rom, worked for his brother so he might have felt compelled to obey this binding ethic of his culture, but I'm sure he could stop himself. That's fine. Now what I find even more humourous about this situation is although Rom was a brother and not a sister of the boss, would he have have felt obliged to obey the Rule "Never sleep with the Bosses Sister" that he would've had to have been VERY self controlled for the first few years on the station when he was all alone?

Quark turned down Pel. I was watching. These questions still stand, and I'm really parroting some narration from the phrase book Legends fo the Ferengi any way. :)

^ Well, Nog came from somewhere...

Wombs are rented, the word "lease" was probably used. But the topic came up. Nog's mommy took all of Rom's money when she left. Tough customer.

Ah but the opposite is not a Rule of Aquistion, the Boss has no rule telling him he has to take advantage of underlings, only that it is right and proper in Ferengi culture if he does.
There must be a lot of Ferengi jokes concerning whatever # Rule that is. A compelling reason to go into business for one's self, which is also a Ferengi virtue.
Must be a strange scene on the Ferengi ships, though.

Re: So all the Ferengi were just gay enough? But what about

Was this rule in Ira's book? The only boss one I remember is "It never hurts to suck up to the boss."

The fact that Ferengi wanted their women naked & home serving them, not to mention they all had the hots for Dax too me says they're hetero. Qurak was repulsed by the idea of a male Ferengi coming on to him.

Exactly. The OP is mis-remembering (to put it politely).

Humm....not sure that I am too thrilled about the title of this thread. There *are* gay men who post in this forum, and I think we need to be respectful of other posters.

Please consider thread titles more carefully in future, okay? ;)

Thanks!

And I'm thinkin' he may be confusin' it with the rule Quark quoted in 'Playing God' - "Never sleep with the boss's sister."

Re: So all the Ferengi were just gay enough? But what about

From Wikipedia.

* 112. Never have sex with the boss's sister.

* 113. Always have sex with the boss.

112 is from Playing God, and 113 is from the novel Legends of the Ferengi, which I cited as the source but assumed it was originally was drawn from the TV show, which it wasn't. I am sorry.

PKTrekGirl this is not about homosexual or bisexual choice, this is about Businessmen willing to prostitute themselves to their superiors to climb up the pecking order no matter their sexual preference and even in despite of their actual needs and desires, or not.

Exodus, they didn't "want" naked women serving them. They were disgusted by the sexual flagrance of clothed women. it's pretty obvious that they made women put clothes on, layers and layers of clothing before they started their mating rituals because naked women are women in a nontitilating state. And I mentioned the girl who was dressed as a boy "Pel" in the original post who threw herself at Quark and that he wasn't interested.

Re: So all the Ferengi were just gay enough? But what about

There isn't a suggestion, as far as I know, of Ferengi males having sex with males. Males suck up to the boss by being subservient, obedient, and good for business.

After females were allowed to take their place in the world of commerce alongside males, one of the last acts of Zekky as Negus, rule 113, was probably added or revised post WYLB. ??

Re: So all the Ferengi were just gay enough? But what about

I'm sure there must be some gay Ferengis. And if one of them happens to be your boss... well, as the Rules of Acquisition say "It never hurts to suck up to the boss."

Obviously, attempting to have sex with your straight boss is only going to get you fired (or worse), and probably is not advocated in any FCA-licensed editions of the Rules of Acquisition.

Re: So all the Ferengi were just gay enough? But what about

Rom scored huge with Leeta so that's that! As far as the rule about sleeping with the boss' ...is that real or did Quark make it up on the fly just to take advantage of a Dabo girl?..

...because it makes the topic relevant cause we all know that Frengi woman can't work, right? That's why I kind of think Quark was winging it for his own purposes and it found it way into the mainstream...just because he said it and now it is canon...(type of thing). Well I think that's bogus...but if that's the way it is in this universe of ours...what can you do?
