SNW truly respects TOS continuity!

Can we just stop with the ridiculous notion that these two images look nothing alike? I mean..... seriously. To 99% of the population, the difference is negligible. To say it looks NOTHING like the TOS version is just being incredibly petty.
It looks different enough.

This is true for the 32d century DSC?
I think 32nd century Discovery switched to purely physical controls (programmable matter).

Might be easier to compare if the CG model was lit like the physical one was
Probably the most "TOS" the lighting got.

There are a few John Eaves indulgences that I don't care for on this design, but overall it's the same ship. I like it just as much.

I'd like it to be lit more like this often. I'm a little tired of the murky effects shots in the newer Trek shows. I wanna see the purdy ships they've designed.
Time for a Strange New Worlds homage to the Motion Picture where they have an overly long flyby of the entire ship.

The Discoprise looks like what you'd get when you take the TMP version and try to recreate a plausible immediate forerunner to it using TMP proportions and aesthetics.

Bernd Schneider's Ex Astris Scientia website has been updated with Strange New Worlds material continuing his articles that he feels new Trek since Discovery is a reboot, so people who feel similarly to how he does can go check it out. I assume he has access to SNW now in Germany (I personally am not up to speed on Paramount Plus' launch status over there)

Make those pylons the TOS ones and I might just rank it up there with the TMP Refit. As it is, though, it's a solid and gorgeous starship even it it's not a perfect match for how she'll look in six years' time.

I think she's absolutely gorgeous! More then worthy of her name. I've already got the eaglemoss XL version of her from Discovery and I'm eagerly awaiting an updated one for Strange New Worlds. I've even got the upcoming Hallmark ornament pre-ordered.

She has quickly become one of my fav Starships. I just with I still had the time or patience to build one of those 1:1000 scale models with the lighting kit. Sadly, between work and fatherhood, I just don't see it happening. That said, were a company to put out a higher end, pre-built model..... I could easily see myself more then willing to slap down a few bills for it.

There's also this:

So yeah I'd say looks-wise the two shows are pretty damn close. I think anyone who says this doesn't look like Star Trek may need an eye exam. ;)
