Smoothies!

...
The last one I made which we all really enjoyed had strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, natural yoghurt, a splash of coconut water, and a hint of vanilla extract. Sweetened with a little bit of acacia honey. The fruit was frozen and gave it a thicker ice cold texture. K'Ehleyr knows what she's talking about as far as convenience goes.

I also recommend virgin strawberry coladas: ripe strawberries (or thick strawberry juice), fresh pineapple, coconut cream, crushed ice. The best!

It could be convenience or laziness ~ I just can't be bothered to make my mind up! It does make sense thou.
But the vanilla extract and honey ~ GENIUS! Will try that :)

What's the difference between a smoothie and a shake?

I think a girl in Tijuana once tried to explain it to me.:alienblush:

:guffaw:
about $5 I'd assume :vulcan:

I just made one that is awesomely good. It includes frozen strawberries, vanilla ice cream, and a generous portion of pineapple-orange juice. Soooo good!!!!

That sounds gorgeous

You know I invented pineapple-orange juice? Seriously I first mixed it together when I was like 6 years old in the mid-70's. everyone in the family raved about it. Years later I am walking in the supermarket and what do I see on the shelf? I wonder if I can sue Dole or Del Monte?

Hope you like! If you wanna be unhealthy about the whole thing though, I also keep some grenadine syrup, goes well with fresh watermelon and lime. Then there are the amaretto and caramel syrups for frappes, not to mention the fresh cream... I can already feel the pounds piling on...

If you plan to make these everyday, I'd think carefully on the ice cream (it is bloody tasty, granted), not unless you have some way of working that off! No reason why some of these can't be water based, just put in a little more fruit to compensate for lost thickness.

^Good point, I mostly used the ice cream as a substitute for yogurt. But I found that using orange juice works well because it is a little thicker than other types of juices.

I've never found a smoothie I can have because of all my fruit allergies. There are plenty of fruits I'm not allergic to but pretty much ever premade smoothie uses as least one thing I can't have.

Oooh pumpkin, I hadn't even thought of that! But it sounds really awesome.

Kestra, you really should try making them at home (if you don't already)! As I've discovered they really taste better that way anyway, and you know exactly what's going in them. I usually don't buy smoothies premade because they just haven't tasted all that great to me and usually always include something I don't like, such as bananas. It seems like they combine every fruit with bananas, it's so annoying!

It really is a good way to get my daily fruit and Vitamin C intake. Although there are many fruits I love, I don't really find myself sitting around eating them in their fresh form, it's just not a habit I've gotten in to. But a tasty beverage seems a lot more convenient for some reason.
