Smart guy needed

NASA's benefits package is a bit lacking.

That, and they have this requirement of having to do advanced math...

The advanced mathematics bit is one thing ...
Reliance on money to get ANYTHING done is another.
The shuttles for example are antiquated, so it comes to no surprise they had as many problems as they did.
State of the art technology of the past was used in those and little to no work was done to actually upgrade the shuttle fleet as times progressed.
I would have considered them much more reliable to this day had they had a constant cycle of updates on internal technology (say once every 5 or 10 years) and externally in terms of hull enforcement and whatnot.
I mean, ever since they created the shuttles, development in computer technology and research in alloys (not to mention other fields) produced something FAR ahead of what NASA created back in it's day.

Having ideas is one thing ... I'm sure we can come up with numerous ideas to advance ourselves in real life by about 20 or 50 years ... if not more.
Trouble is ... when you live in a capitalist society that relies on money to get anything done and greedy individuals in power who stand in the way ... it's amazing we actually reached contemporary level of technological development (which is far behind what we could have done if corporations, morons and money did not stand in the way ... in fact, we still could, and technology is not the problem since it's there, it was just never allowed into production).

and as bad as it is, look how far we are. Capitalist societies are not perfect, but I would take them over any other choice there is out there...

There is no page one. :p

I suggest the two cans on a string approach, but somehow add some treknobabble to it.
