IThe show has to end with Clark or the Blur becoming Superman so we were never going to see big blue in action much less flying.

Exactly. I assumed from Day One that we weren't going to see Clark as Superman until the last shot of the last episode. Anyone expecting otherwise was just setting themselves up for disappointment . . .

I'm still working on that assumption, which means I'll be pleasantly surprised if we get a bit more SUPERMAN in the finale.

They'll get there when they get there . . . .

Unfortuneately, I'm working under the same assumption. TPTB on this show are used to disappointing. They're the only ones who tried to write off the thirty-second battle against Doomsday in Season 8 as epic.

Well, since there's no season cliffhanger or no next season to drag this out, I'm hopeful that we'll see an epic "I AM SUPERMAN bitch!" moment at the end I do hope that we see him smash the hell out of someone and not a repeat of the epicless Doomsday fiasco.

I just don't know if I will see Clark as being *Superman* just because he's wearing the tights. I think there was a wasted opportunity this season to be able to use the loss of Chloe as a defining moment in his character development.

As someone who is not a fan of Smallville (caught a few episodes early on, and I've seen all of the Geoff Johns written episodes), I think this is the kind of episode you enjoy more if you don't know a lot of the baggage of all the previous episodes and seasons.

Booster was pretty spot-on and I loved the inclusion of the "The Greatest Hero You've Never Heard of..." line. As far as Skeets, I didn't feel like we had to see him, but I did miss Billy West as his voice (I kind of expected it since he did the voice for Justice League Unlimited and Batman: The Brave and the Bold. A lot of nice references to Booster's past were woven into the episode as well (even a mention of Michelle, his sister!).

I wasn't as happy with Blue Beetle, though. They took everything that is awesome about Jaime Reyes and dumped it for a character that could have easily been replaced with Jimmy Olsen from Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. I was also a little iffy about the ending, "Great, he was able to stop the suit from killing someone once, so, he's good to go, just, you know, keep an eye on him." Granted, I know they couldn't do much, but if they dumped some scenes of Clark being douchey and had the fx budget, I would have liked to see Jaime actually doing something more heroic than just not killing Booster. Still, I guess at the end, we got the beginning of the Blue and Gold team. I was also expecting the test footage we saw last year to be the ending scene of the show, or at least the Blue Beetle part.

I was also a little disappointed by Ted Kord. I was hoping they'd work in that the Kord we saw was Jarvis (Ted's genius, but evil Uncle) as the one running the country, then have Jarvis arrested for endangering citizens, and Ted coming in to take over the company. Then a quick scene of Ted and Booster meeting and hitting it off right away.

I did love that they included the Booster Gold Fan-Club T-Shirt, which first appeared on G4 tv and on the cover of Booster Gold. By the way, if you want, you can get one for yourself.

I watched "Booster" again today and it is probably in the top 5 this season...looking back...

1. Homecoming
2. Icarus
3. Abandoned
4. Booster
5. Shield

S10 has been pretty weak...not as bad as S8 but it is close...S8, S9 & S10 have been pretty awful compared to the first 5 seasons and falling behind S6 & S7.

I think most of the negative reaction comes from the fact that we've few episodes left, the promos are selling this as the last few, epic, episodes of Smallville and then we get this piece which does nothing to further the mythos. And weren't we building up to another big-bad this season? What happened with that?

I would have liked to seen "Booster" in mid-season like it was supposed to be...but have no problems being one of the last episodes...the ship has sailed on them doing anything "epic" by this point. :rommie:

It's simple:

I gave this an Excellent. Yeah the quickie transformation to nerdy Clark Kent strained credibility but what doesn't when it comes to comic books? Welling did a great job with the clumsy moments. The guy playing Booster was perfect, nicely done there. And they are setting up the anticipation for the big Superman reveal to the public in the finale.

For those complaining that this all should have happened sooner, you're wrong. Once he is Superman this show is technically supposed to be over. So they have to drag out the pre-Superman stuff. And each year the CW kept adding another season which meant dragging it out even more. And even though this was the Last Season, I wonder if they were still writing the show with the caveat that they might get one more season sprung on them.

You miss the point entirely.

I stopped watching the show years ago. I started watching again when they announce that this was the final season. I liked the early episodes of this season but this. . . This was god awful. Maybe because Booster has been protrayed better in other forms of media (The greastest Story never told is by far the best). I think the entire show looses its focus when Lex Luthor isn't around.

The first half wasn't so good but the second half was better. Definitely not a God awful episode. But one that should have taken place earlier in the season.

I don't particularly mind Zod's return next week but it's another episode that takes away from the narrative as the show ends.

I think this episode was OK. I love seeing other heroes on Smallville. Skeets was a little lame but his CGI must have been to much for the budget. I agree that a showing earlier in the season would have been better. It just seems the pacing is all wrong. It doesn't seem to be building to the huge crescendo I think we were all hoping for after ten years. And why did they bother with Darkseid? He feels a bit more like a baddie of the week and not the season long villain you would expect. IDK still gonna be glue to my set until the end either way.
