SMALLVILLE- Does Clark owe Metropolis an apology? SOON?

I dont disagree it probably will end up with him becoming Superman, but a slightly differnt Superman to previous Supermen, there is no way this Clark can make the traditional Clark/Superman thing work.

If you are Lois Lane in Smallville how do you not see that Superman is Clark?

If you're Lois Lane of the Daily Planet in any incarnation how do you not see Superman is Clark? Come on... it's never been that believable that Lois of all people didn't catch on after a while, suspend your disbelief.

Every incarnation of Superman is slightly different from one another. If that was all you were eluding to I don't think you'll find any disagreement.

at least previous Clarks wore glasses and mostly did not know Lois before he became Superman.

In this version of the tail its totally possible that Lois will find out Clark is Superman before he even is Superman, if you see what I mean.

We're not sure how Clark will become Superman in Smallville yet...I see where you're coming from, the show has created a type of doubt in the viewer weather or not this Clark will actually become Superman. As previous posters have commented on there have been hints over the years that Clark will become Superman, as I said though not the Superman we're familiar with in the comics but a Superman that has been defined by his experiences within the context of this series...good or bad. It's basicaly all speculation at this point until we get word of a series finale (as I've mentioned in other threads it's been reported that the producers do have a plan for a series finale as they've had the previous two years should the show end) it's difficult to predict how he will become Superman since this is not the convential way we've been used to have the story told to us.

I agree with wamdue that it's possible that Lois will figure out that Clark is Superman before he actually becomes Superman...the way things are progressing this season on the show I even think this could happen, maybe in the season finale.

I always thought that it would be Chloe who helped Clark become a big hero (possibly called Superman) but its possible that its actually Lois who does that.

Whilst we might get Superman, I just cant see the Superman/Clark thing working for this series, Clark/RedBlueBlur only works because his identity is hidden, that is not Supermans MO, Superman is as effective as he is, because of his public persona, im not sure how Clark can have both his life the Daily Planet reporter and a Superman persona, when Smallville ends.

My friend keeps thinking a mind wipe of some kind is going to happen...
and would you be happy with that ending?

If this Clarks journey leads him to a point where he simply cant become the traditional Superman/Clark, then hitting a giant reset button to allow for that to happen, pretty much just invalidates the whole series.

I would much rather the series ends with him becoming a hero that fits the rest of the show, rather than having to have a massive reset to make Clark into the hero that he has been hundreds of times before. Heaven forbid there be a well known Clark Kent who does not end up as Superman (I say well known as im sure there are plenty of comic book Clark Kents who are not what the public would recognise as Superman) In all the entire DC Multiverse that Clark Kent always ends up as Superman is shockingly unoriginal.

If they do that, the show might as well just be the parts of the opening episode where he first crashes, and his apperance in Metropolis as Superman, as the reset makes everything else totally pointless.

No I stated that was my friends theory...not mine...I actually agree with you with the exception that I want to see Clark become Superman in whatever context the series presents. I will be disappointed though if we don't get some kind of pay off.

Now back on to the original posters question...does Clark owe the city an apology? Perhaps this is why he decides to present himself as Superman to the public, as a way of making up for all the damage his battles and things have caused.

Lois is dumb she won't figure out Clark is The Blur or Superman...on her own...if she does it is because Clark tells her.

Also I just wish Clark has the tradtional suit by the end of the season and if there is a season 10 it is all about Superman.

Forget about the glasses and people not recognizing Superman as Clark Kent. How's about people not remembering him as a vandal and arsonist?

Well, I think that's pretty much overshadowed by him saving so many lives.

That being said, he is a bit careless about the unnecessary property damage. I think my favorite was when he wanted to stop a speeding Oliver on his motorcycle, so instead of just grabbing him and the bike and gently slowing it down, he broke into a company's property and shoved one of their trucks through a fence and onto the street, probably requiring some pretty expensive repairs which he never reimburses. Because the best way to stop someone committing a crime is to cause an even bigger crime to block them.

There was also a time when he was sitting in his home in Smallville, heard a woman in Metropolis getting car jacked and in seconds ran to Metropolis and stopped the carjacking by taking the carjacker and ripping him out of the "victim" car (damaging it in the process) and then tossing him into the car behind her -damaging it in the process. So in the process of stopping a carjacking he damaged two cars.

Insurance rates in Metropolis must suck under The Blur's tenure as a hero.

he wont become Superman a beloved icon of Metropolis if that is how he behaves

He is still learning...Alot of the stuff done one the show is for the viewers sake as sad as it sounds...in reality I doubt Clark would be doing these types of things...property damage and all.

Wasn't there a plot on Lois & Clark where the only "villain" to actually defeat Superman was a lawyer who filed a lawsuit against him or something like that?

There was a long standing rumor that the show would end with Clark moving to the big city and becoming Superman, at which point a new series would begin, called Metropolis. That would be fine with me, really.

Yeah I remember that rumor...they spend the majority of their time in Metropolis now anyways. I would have changed the name as I've said in other threads to Beyond Smallville: Metropolis. There was a big rumor swirling around comic con that Smallville would end at the end of this season and would return with a two hour TV movie featuring Clark becoming Superman. The announcement would have been announced at comic con. There were even rumors that a suit had already been created and maybe revealed at comic con too...lol.

TBTB at Smallville hates its fans too much for that to happen. :guffaw:
