Smallville 9x05 "Roulette" - Discuss/Grade <SPOILERS>

Good episode. However, there were points where I was wishing that it was Bruce instead of Ollie--especially the bit with Chloevage at the end.

These days, I go into these episodes not knowing anything about the plot. What a surprise to see that they did a Saw knockoff. And they were even unapologetic about it with the actual saws they put on the wall.

The other big surprise was that Chloe did all this to Ollie. I wonder what this means for the dark path she's supposedly going down.

Oh yeah, and Ollie's worth about 3 billion and some change. Gotta get that screencap.

Also, sorry to hear about your dad nx.

Is this the Matrix?
Saw.

"I just paid that car off!"

Well the Blur may have saved her, but I think he wrecked her car in the process.
All I could think of was how much he damaged the car.

So.... how many times is Smallville going to do the "Saw" thing?
They'll do another one when Saw VII comes out.

Saw and the Matrix, can't Smallville be original?
Just Saw. No Matrix.

Soo.... both Clark and Lois are in their 20s and have never seen Jaws?
I thought she said the movie was "Shark" or something like that, like Jaws in the Smallville universe. I dunno.

Lois, laundry and lacey-things.

:guffaw:
Lois was looking good tonight.

I had forgotten how silly that outfit was.
It's the hood and sunglasses. The rest of the suit is fine.

Well, I guess that's about as close to Superman and Batman as we're going to get on this show. Nice ending though, I rather liked this ep. Time to vote.
I thought the same thing.

Did anyone else catch this week's roll-your-eyes-comics-reference-in-dialog?

Clark: "Let's just say that if there was an anti-life equation I think I found it."

Heh.
I caught it too.

Look at his costume. Bart is Speedy.

I think it was really cheap to insist that Bart, Dinah and Victor were in this episode hiding behind corners and between tufts of shadow when those actors could probably do with some cash right about now... You know if Stargate hadn't stolen our precious Black Canary out from under us because no one thought to put the girl on retainer?

Chloe is Charlie Brown and kissing gorgeous men is her Football.

Clark meanwhile is just a football.

You can understand her confusion now for the first FIVE seasons?

My real concern about this episode was to boggle: Why the hell are they reigniting the Ollie/Lois 'ship if they're trying to get Lois and Clark to man of steel/woman of Kleenex their socks off finally. Are they intentionally trying to create a love triangle to CW their love life? But the problem here, like with Clark/Lex/Lana as with Lois/Clark/Ollie is that I would rather see the blokes get it on rather than one of the girls give up what they're prudishly withholding because guys making out is hilarious.

Of the three, that's not the movie I would have thought that most people have not seen, even though it's easily the worst.

Are they going to recast Black Canary?

And as far as this entire plot went, did they have nothing for Arthur to do, or was his involvement so nonspecific to his skillset that his contribution was totally overlooked? Poor bastard. No respect.

I must have missed that part. When was this said that they were there?

Just because she is doing another show in the same place where Smallville is filmed (at last report), doesn't mean that she can't pop up for a guest spot now and again. Also, Stargate didn't steal anything. She auditioned for it and accepted the job. Would you of rather her say, "Gee, thanks for offering me a full time gig, but I have to remain free in case Smallville needs me for a cameo or something."

I'm in my late 20s and have never seen Jaws. Besides, I think the implication was that Lois has seen these movies lots of times. Clark might not have, but even if he did, he could have been asking the whole "What did I miss" stuff just to pretend like he was interested.

I reccomend "The Game" I think it's actually a decent movie.
I'll have to check it out then.

With the pregnancy, I don't know if she has time to make an appearance on Smallville anytime soon.

I don't think so.

I think they're just friends. Like, they tried it, it didn't work, but they still each appreciate each other's company. I does happen.

Frankly, I think that'd be for the best. I cannot stand that chick and of all the JLers I think she was the worst cast. Though, really, the only one they got right was Gallner. He does a good job, and I actually thought a few years back he was on the verge of breaking out of TV. Maybe Elm Street will do it for him.
