The glasses thing is consistent with the DC universe anyway.
I wonder how they would ever get Clark to be Superman without being recognized in the Smallville world since they don't even have that flimsy pretext.
This was a pretty good episode I thought, I think the move to Metropolis (though apparently ever closer to Smallville) has been a good one or at least getting Clark and Lois at the Planet at any rate.

I really miss Lex, Lionel and Lana.
I look at Lana an Lois and think what person in their right min would choose Lois over Lana as she blows her away in personality, looks and pretty much everything.
I've always disliked the Lois Lane character and while I enjoy this verion more than most she still doesn't hold a candle to Lana.

That is correct.
I don't miss Lana's whining at all this season. Lois is definitely more interesting than Lana. I don't hate Lana, but I'm certainly not interested in version #20050098 of Clark and Lana.
I loved the look on Kara's face as she flew away from Earth. "Well, no spinoff for me ..."

With the compressed timeline the current pace, it would make Smallville just a two-season show, or mini-series. (Assuming they would stop when Clark becomes Superman).
I generally like the faster pace, but a lot of possible character moments are being glossed over for the sake of pacing.
It's a tough balance to get right.
And where's Shelby?

In the writing, maybe. But there are still big gaps in the acting and production.
Overall, I'm guessing seasons 3 and 5 will still be better in the end.
Not at all. I like Lana all around much better than Lois or Chloe both in terms of looks and personality. For example I wanted Lana to slap the sh!t out of Chole when Ms "I betrayed you to Lionel Luthor but am getting al lhigh and mighty with you" threatened Lana last year for example.
It's admn good season and I am enjoying it immensely but as I sid before there is big gaping hole of greatness with the Luthors (and IMHO Lana) being gone.
Lex and Lionel are/were some of the best written characters on tv in modern times. Right up there with current greats like Dr. Gregory House, Denny Crane and Alan Shore.

Lana had potential that was ruined by the writers worshipping the ground she walked on (and by extension the characters around her worshiped her with airheaded unconditionalness, too). They had her going down the wrong road, so what do they do? Spin her around 180 degrees and head her in the completely opposite wrong direction.
And it's too bad a lot of the fans hold that against Kristen Kreuk. While not the best actress on the show (not that it would be saying much otherwise), she's pretty damn beautiful.
Saying the Luthors are among the TV all-time greats is setting the bar awfully low. Just because they're the best characters on the show isn't saying much. The Broncos are the best team in the AFC west, but they're only 5-4 and everyone else is below .500.

He did say "modern" TV. That bar itself isn't very high. The TV writing these days is generally pretty fucking awful.
