Time for me to bail. I gave this one a 'Clark Kent'. Not the worst Smallville ep, but probably the weakest so far for this season which has been pretty good thus far.

Well, they can't all be gems, I guess.

See you all next week and some of you tomorrow for BSG.

:techman:

One thing I've noticed about this Superman, he sure needs a lot of convincing to become Superman and do what he is destined to do, I mean it is taking a LOT of coaxing and persuading him to do the right thing here, its like it genuinely isn't in his heart, its coming from external sources, like the encouragement of a police officer here, no what I mean?

Very good point. This has always been a major problem on the show. Clark is more worried about angst than anything else in his life.

I liked tonight's episode. It was good to see a non-meteor freak storyline for a change. Liked the bickering between Ollie and Clark and how Ollie completely blew off Clark's tiresome guilt trip. The Tess storyline was very good too and I'm looking forward to seeing where it progresses. The fight between Tess and Lana was good but the greatest chick fight on television (and one of the very best overall) is still the one between Syd and Evil Francine on Alias.

Some problems though...

-Chloe is only in one scene and she's ultimately there to pimp Lois and Clark. That makes her the sixth character this season to do so. It's amazing...Lois has done nothing but treat Clark like garbage and run him down in front of people. Chloe has been Clark's undying, devoted friend from the beginning and it's LOIS that Clark is attracted too. He must have a thing for women who publicly rip his balls off.

-Speaking of which...the return of Clana. ARRRGH! Clark's has to move on and he can't do so until Lana is in the past. And Smallville writers....Clark HAS to be the one to put the relationship behind him. No Lana decided to end it for good. Clark has to be the one to bite the bullet.

Yeah, i'm tired of Clana, seriously, I thought we were past that now and that they ended that crap, but here we are again? I don't get it. Clark is putting his selfish desires in front of the world? Doesn't sound like supes to me.

I'm guessing no one here caught the blank look he had after the kiss. That's the Last thing you do if you actually, truly, want to get back together with someone. He was really trying, because he wants someone to be with (as Turpin has with his family), and Lana just happens to be there right now. But it's not happening, thus the blank look. Next week he'll begin realizing that.

They break them up so that they can get them back together again.

After Lana goes, the story is back exactly where it was just before she came back.

Clark was supposedly over it, and moving ahead with Lois. After Lana goes, Clark will supposedly be over it and moving ahead with Lois?

The entire story arc was unnecessary. There was no big mystery we needed solved about Lana, we don't need a big reveal.

The smartest thing, and the kindest thing, they could have done was have Lana come to the wedding, and have Clark realize he was totally over it, and shake her hand, and leave with Lois. Then any martial arts fights between Lana and Tess would have been fun.

If Lois was a friend of mine I'd tell her kick Clark to the curb. You're either into someone or you're not. A guy who flip flops when the new girl is already in his arms ready to kiss, doesn't deserve it.

Can't blame Gough and Miller for this.

I'm surprised nobody here pointed out the DC character that was introduced in this episode. It was Dan Turpin.

I admit it took me half the episode to figure that the young cop was Turpin--and I'm writing the FINAL CRISIS novelization right now.

Think someone should warn him about Darkseid . . . .?

I nearly missed that.

After last week's excellent episode, this one was also well-done. I'd given up on Smallville years ago. Everything was fine until the last scene of the episode. Same ol' shit. Same ol' Smallville. It would've been more daring, more challenging, and more something new if Clark told Lana that he does need someone in his life but it ain't her.

I'm tired of the Clark-Lana merry-go-round. But it's a minor iritation in a rather excellent episode. Finally, Clark is showing the qualities that he'll exhibt as the Man of Steel especially with that scene with Ollie at the farm house. Although, I wished that it had been with Bruce Wayne. It's the very arguement that those two would have.

To be honest, the only reason I realized it was him is because I remember reading on Kryptonsite a while back about Turpin appearing on Smallville, with an image of the actor. It took me a few to remember where I saw his face before, then it clicked.

I just finished watching the episode. It was kinda meh.

I noticed that right away. My first thought was it was too bad they couldn't get Jill Teed in for a small cameo. Ah well. That's just fan-wank anyways.

I thought the episode was alright...liked Turpin but recognize the actor from another series called Whistler. We won't need to worry about Lana after the next three episodes so I didn't mind the kiss. The big question for me is who the heck was Lana attempting to transmit that data to she stole from Tess? Ollie? I'm curious to find out what she's been doing the past seven or eight months and how she discovered about the camera chip implant inside Tess...that was a huge bombshell but something I expected. So that bald dude is Lex Luthor...and they showed a picture of Lex on the newspaper on Tess's desk as she leaves with Ollie on their date. I wonder if this is how Lex creates Lex Corp...after the broken shards of his father's company that Tess helps destroy, he comes back to rebuild it. This is getting interesting. I also liked the scene at the end between J'onn, Ollie, and Clark (shades of the Justice League)!
