It was just explained.

He was a hero during the second meteor shower which got him the ability to run for office because he was a national hero. Pretty much the same way he became President in the comics as well - he was instrumental in the rebuilding of Gotham City following No Man's Land.

Okaaaaaaay, being a national hero means you don't have to be 35 to run for election?

Or is this just one of those things we really aren't supposed to think about?

The same thing happened in the comics to an extent... Lex's past was ignored because of his helping Gotham. Since Lex saved Smallville the people may have backed him.

But apparently Fine manipulated it...

ARRRRGH!! Tornado somewhere has pre-empted the show for the last 20 MINTUES!!! Do we REALLY need the same fricking information on TWO channels?

NOw they are just teasing us with this Clark bit, cause once he returns things to normal all will be the same, no more superman in disquise

I don't know how they are ever gonna answer the fact that everyone knows Clark WITHOUT the glasses anymore

I can't help but wonder just how accurate this vision of Jor-El's is, or how much he's just embelllishing it for Clark's benefit.

Or does he really have some means of seeing what the timeline would've been without Clark?

I'm sure if Welling has his way, we'll never get to that point since he won't put on the tights.

In the comics Superman and Lois did once visit an alternate timeline where neither of the existed and it was meant to be real. I think that he could scan the timelines.

Who's to say that Superman wears the traditional costume in Smallville. It could be more like the Justice League costumes we've seen.

For God's sake, the first thing out of his mouth is about Lana?

I can't wait for Othello to weigh in on that one!

Isn't there some law about time-travel that says that if a person comes into contact with a younger version of themselves the universe will explode or something?

Yeah, that Krypton sequence was rushed.

We finally get to see the actual planet, and we get a five-minute tour of its destruction. A wasted opportunity, they should've done a whole episode that examined the final days of the planet leading up to the destruction.

It was a good ep, up to that point.
