So, is this BrainIAC good? I don't get it.

Apparently, the formerly evil Brainiac has evolved into the good Brainiac 5 by the Legion's time. Plays havoc with the comic mythology, but again, par for the course for this show.

To be fair, this was foreshadowed at the end of the previous "Legion" episode when the Legionnaires talked about reprogramming Brainiac to make him the Brainy we know and love.

Anyone else notice that, amidst all this nostalgia, Pete Ross went conspicuously unmentioned? Granted, I wasn't expecting him to show up, given the actor's recent legal woes, but I was surprised that there wasn't at least a throwaway line along the lines of "Too bad Pete couldn't make it."

Yeah, I thought Pete's absence was odd too but I believe you normally attend reunions at the high-school you graduate from and not all of the ones you happened to have gone to (in spite of what Lois thinks) so his high-school reunions would take place at the high-school in Wichita he attended, the one he would've graduated from.

The last scene

I wonder if Clark was aware he was floating at the end of the episode. If he was aware, does that mean he is going to attempt to fly now

Just saw the episode, I have to disagree with most everyone here so far, I really really liked it and feel it deserves a higher grade.

It had all the right things, the stuff in the future was awesome IMO, yeah, there was more they could have done, but we got to see future Clark WITH the glasses, and we got to see him whoosh off to save a nuclear explosion, pretty sweet if you ask me, there will be no other opportunity in this last season to see that, what future Clark will become as Clark Kent at the Daily Planet, and here we got to. It is the end result we all wanted to see, and we got to see it. Yeah, no real good shots of him in the cape, but I guess they are saving that big reveal for the very end. We got the classic helicopter save from the original movie, that was freaking awesome, only thing that would have been better is if he flew and caught it, but he's not there yet.

His speech at his dads grave at the end really sealed the deal on this episode for me. He said all the right things, and it seems he is truly moving on and not hanging onto the past now, FINALLY, this is a GOOD thing. It is about time. This is what we have all been wanting, and Brainiac was right, this is a turning point in his life right here.

The end with Lois also sealed the deal of his change, his whole demenor has changed, you can see it, the way he commanded Lois and has learned to live as the hero in the moment is HUGE for this Clark, just huge. Then of course, he levitated, we know he can do that, he's done it once before in the series when he levitated over his bed. But this was a willful levitation, now that his mind was cleared in the moment. I hope we get some good flying scenes now in the remaining episodes.

Yeah, I dunno, I'm not negative about this episode, I actually liked it, and I think this is a turning point for Clark. Oh yeah, and good stuff with Oliver there at the end, I really feel that Clark now has his back.

Red-Blue Blur (Good)

No, I guarantee the bit at the end with Lois was on a subconscious level. He found his happy thought, but won't realize it for a while.

^ well anyway, it was nice...

sure, the ep wasn't perfect, they could have done more, but it is mostly everything we have been wanting to see, and i really do feel he has reached a turning point here in letting go of the past and clearing his head

200th episode look back priority check list

-Bug boy
-Chloe
-Lana

Pete? who's Pete Ross?

;)

I'm surprised Lex wasn't mentioned.

Wasn't Greg the bugboy killed? I seemed to recall an air-conditioner or something like that being dropped on him following his and Clark's fight. It seemed like it would've squashed him pretty good, left him pretty fucked up, or at the very least his actions wouldn't have made him very available for a high-school reunion in eight years.

Man, it's too bad we can't watch that "future" version of the show instead, because those characters were actually pretty fun and exciting to watch!

It turns out Welling can actually pull off a pretty cool Clark when he doesn't have to be so damn morose and insecure all the time.

And just think, it only took us 10 short years to find out! ;)

Shucks! Missed another episode! Oh, well. I'll find time to watch it somehow. However, based on the comments in this thread, I guess I didn't miss much!

^
Actually it was excellent. It was slow the first 30 minutes or so but there is a lot of great stuff in this episode. Brainiac 5(James Marsters) was great, there were nice moments with Clark at Jonathan's grave and the moment with Greg Arkin was a nice touch. The future stuff was awesome and it was nice to look back at the Torch & the flashback with Lana. Great stuff with Oliver Queen. This episode was one of my favorites. :)

I just saw the Bug Boy episode on Thursday. This big heavy thing falls on Greg Arkin and then dozens of tiny bugs come out from underneath it and they scurry away. I guess he turned into bugs and later reconstituted himself.

Okay that was boderline awesome and everyone knows that I love Brainy right? I loved all the scenes between Brainy and Clark, and I told you guys that the episode that Jonathon died was a crucial turning point for Clark and the start of his dark self doubt arc. Hopefully now he really does understand what a douche he's been and will take what Brainy has shown him to heart.

The future scenes were pretty sweet, and oh in case anyone was wondering...yes I did cry a couple of times. The first was when Brainy introduces himself to Clark and shows him the ring and the second time I teared up was when Future Clark meets his younger self. I knew that Clark would think of his older self as stuck up...no Clark, you're not stuck up, it's called being a leader and having confidence in yourself.

I loved how Brainiac in his actions with the guidance counselor basically said with all the S1-S4 freak of the week non-sense...It is time to move one, we are done with this.

As I said it was kinda slow then picked up with the Brainiac 5 reveal. Lot of nice moments here and hopefully the rest of the season with pick up where this leaves off and doesn't go backward.

I should add though I would have written this episode differently and included Chloe...and yes that would mean that the entire season would be differently structured. Lois really didn't belong in the Smallville scenes. They didn't have Pete's name tag there or a mention of him which I found amusing.

Pete didn't graduate from Smallville High so I am fine with no mention of him...it does suck no new Chloe scenes...fine with the flash backs...same with Lana.
I think they dragged the whole knowing who Lois is and her not realizing that no one should cause she only went to the school for 5 days way too long...I am fine with her being there.
It was great they established the brotherhood between Kal-El & Brainiac...both created by Jor-El. It wasn't perfect...but nothing on TV is...it is my fav 4th ep & right up there with "Reckoning" & "Memoria" over all. :)

Yeah I actually found it interesting how they "Smallvilleized" Brainy and actually made it work within the context of the show.
