small quake in SF

We'll probably get some aftershocks up here in NorCal, most likely on the 29th since we seem to like getting them on my birthday.

My friend Megan said she did, 3.8? Small tremors are runners up to big'uns sometimes aren't they?

Felt a HUGE jolt followed by a few seconds of minor rolling motion here on the mid-peninsula.

And today's the 105th anniversary of the 1906 quake!

Oh noes, them Americanz are testing their earthquake gun again. Did you know it can also cause spacequakes?

I felt it. Kind of a jolt and then some rattling. Kind of unnerving but I guess that's par for the course in living here.

Frisco can handle a small-ish quake.

I watched a one-hour show this weekend on Japan’s quake--mostly taken by home video cameras. And the tsunami.

I didn’t know the quake lasted SIX minutes!!! It’s amazing anything was standing; a testament to their construction. And the water from the tsunami? Geez! It was black, like it had dredged up all the muck from the bottom of the ocean floor.

I didn't feel it, but some of my friends did. (I'm near Moffett Field right now. My friends who felt it are in Santa Clara.)

I haven't felt one damn quake since '89. Maybe I'm just immune, having gotten used to them as a kid?

I was at work, near Ocean Beach in SF - up on a hill, probably pretty firm ground. The jolt was pretty minor.

There's a theory that quakes are more common in April and October because of the equinoxes (and the resulting stress on the Earth caused by the sun and moon pulling in opposite directions) but it probably can't be proven statistically.

I've been in So Cal for 11 years now and I've only felt two earthquakes. Both were around 4.5, and I only noticed because I was standing on a desk hanging model airplanes to the ceiling of a classroom.
