Slumdog Millionaire DVD. FOX SCREWS UP DVD!

Anybody notice that at one point, I think when Jamal is talking to the police detective, that a line in English is subtitled?

Okay guys. A friend bought me the Slumdog Millionaire dvd after hearing about how much I wanted to see the movie for months now not realizing that the dvds were screwed up. Instead of telling her about it and making her feel like idiot I just called the FOX number yesterday (1-888-223-4FOX) and answered a few questions. After I woke up I got the corrected dvd in the mail. The call was pretty easy and only took 24 hours for the dvd to arrive!

Great service. FOX did screw up but they are taking care of the problem unlike some studios.

Now I'm going to see the movie tonight! :techman:

Did you have to send the old one in?

Yeah. They sent me the new dvd first and it comes a self-addressed envelope so you can send back the old dvd. They pay for shipping both times.

That's cool. So... what forces you to send them the first DVD?

;)

They have my name, address and phone number. I don't think I want to risk possible legal action taken against me in the future just to keep a spare rental copy. ;)

I doubt they would, or could, take "legal action" against you over a $20 DVD.

;)

Wow, that's a bad screw up but I guess at least they're making good on it and sending out the replacement DVDs.

I do think it's kind of lame to pull extras from rental DVDs. I can see the logic behind it, but it seems Scrooge-like. :p

They could just make the mistake a sort of new "plus" or added value.

"Come buy 'Slumdog Millionaire' - now with fewer extras to distract you so you can focus strictly on the movie!" Of course, this bonus No Extras Edition will cost a few bucks extra.

One of the mistakes I made early on when collecting DVDs was to purchase good movies as opposed to "re-watchable". I have at least 20 DVDs still in the plastic.

Guilty as charged, I had to learn that lesson myself. That and I was always buying DVD's on the chance that they'll go out of print and I'd regret not having bought it whether I really needed to or not.

I noticed an English line was dubbed when the teacher was talking (yelling?) to the kids.

Oddest quirk I noticed on the disc was that rewind was blocked during the trailers. How dare I think to back up during a trailer! I hate prohibited user operations but I've never found a player that bypasses them, even a shady import unit or something.

I rarely rewatching dvds these days so I've greatly cut back on my dvd spending. I think I buy like three movies on dvd per year now. Most of the time I watch a new movie over at a friends house.
