Slings and Arrows question

When exactly do the Slings and Arrows stories take place? I know Book 2 is concurrent with "Homefront/Paradise Lost." I had the impression Book 6 took place just before "Rapture." But I notice Memory Beta places First Contact there. I haven't read Slings and Arrows yet, so I don't know if Book 6 is supposed to lead directly into First Contact or not.

So is there exact info on when exactly the stories take place in relation to the tv episodes?

Book 1 takes place right before "Homefront," and Book 2 overlaps "Homefront" and "Paradise Lost." Book 3 is right after "The Muse." Book 4 isn't specifically placed. Books 5-6 are simultaneous (Book 6 actually starts a day sooner) and take place when the new uniforms are introduced, which is why they're put before "Rapture." Memory Beta must put FC there because of the uniforms too, but really it could come anytime after that. Books 5-6 are shortly before FC, but don't lead directly into it.

Thank you so much Christopher. You are a never ending help to so many of us, and I really appreciate you spending time posting here.

One correction to what Christopher said: Book 6 does sort of lead into First Contact, as the epilogue takes place during the beginning of the movie (and explains why Worf was the only familiar face on the Defiant in the movie).

^Sorry, I overlooked that line in my chronology. But the epilogue is set a few weeks after the bulk of the story.

It's hasn't appeared in any catalogs or upcoming books lists. Since they haven't done paper releases for the CoE novellas, I doubt they'll be doing these any time soon.

The remaining compilations of previous eBook stories are waiting to be needed in an emergency. For when a timeslot is suddenly vacant due to a missed deadline.

Is this just supposition on your part or has this been confirmed anywhere?

It's probably an extrapolation from past practice. When the NuTrek novels got pulled, the slots were filled partly with SCE omnibus editions, IIRC.

^And I'm pretty sure I remember KRAD or someone connected to Pocket Books saying that here too.

And because the trade compilation doesn't need the same lead time as a brand new novel before release, you probably won't see any notification of a forthcoming S&A collection until that quarter's catalogue is released.

Hopefully it sees print because I lost Book 2 somehow and never heard back from Pocket about it. Still gotta finish the collection but kinda of waiting for print.

This is deinitely a series ofstories I've been wanting to been hoping would come out as a tradepaperback for a long time.:):techman:

You could always buy them as eBooks and read them now instead of waiting maybe forever to see them printed.

Or buy the ebooks and get them printed. There are reasonably-priced book printing and binding services.
