SLings and Arrows -- PDF version?

Hello all,

I don't like reading eBooks (and don't want to start a debate of pros / cons of eBooks).
I have to admit, I do destroy a few trees as I like to read some trek fan fic -- where I print out the story from a PDF document and read. I do travel a lot for work so I find it handy when on a plane to pull out a manila folder and read (for what's it worth, I do print double sided!) I've already sat in boring conferences and as the speaking is yakking away, I pull out the printed papers and no one even suspects I am screwing off, but I digress.

I was always hoping the eBook exclusive Slings and Arrows would eventually be print format. Is there anyway to buy a PDF version of the eBook (I would then just print it out and read it at my leisure). Or...is it next to impossible to print out an Ebook. thanks for answering the question/providing guidance.

Unless they are released DRM free, and I don't think Pocket's are, most E-Books are specifically programed so you can't do things like print them out. I believe they do it to prevent people from printing out copies and selling them themselves..

There actually ways to get around the DRM, but as I understand it, the legality of doing it is....... murky, so I'll just leave it at that. There are people on the boards who do it, so I'll leave it to them to share whatever info they want.

My understanding is that all the Pocket Star Trek eBooks are now DRM-free.

At least on the Canadian Kobo site, this seems to apply to the Slings & Arrows series. Here are the details for book 1, "A Sea of Troubles":

My apologies for sounding like a smacked ass, so I went on the website and for example, it says I can buy Book VI of Slings and Arrows (Enterprises of Great Pitch and Moment) for $6.99 When it comes to me will it be in a PDF format or way to print it out then?

It says "In stock for immediate download", you think I will be able to print it out then?

It depends on if you pick the PDF format. Depending on where you get it from, it should have an option for what format you want. If you go to one of the sites like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Google Play they don't give you an option and you just get the default for their read, Kindle for Amazon (I'm not sure what the technical name is, but I believe it's their own format that is only used on their devices and apps), and I believe B&N and Google both use EPub.

My understanding is that all the Pocket Star Trek eBooks are now DRM-free.

I'm not sure if you can print from the E-Pub, I just read everything on my tablet, so the thought honestly never even occurred to me.
Just of curiosity, why are you so determined to print them out?

I just never enjoyed reading for pleasure from a tablet -- since I work at a computer most of the day. I am the same way with the newspapers, I can't stand the digital subscription and just like holding the papers in my hand. Guess I'm old fashioned. I do the local crossword too -- can't stand doing it online, just like having pen in hand and filling in clues.

I suppose in the end I'll risk a 6.99 purchase and hope I can print it out.

If you look around you could probably find some freebies you could download first, so that way you can check without having to spend money.
Where are you getting them from?
