Spoilers Sleepy Hollow Season 4

Been a long time since I've seen a show jump so many sharks in one go.

So... Ichabod and Jenny are back, but everything else is gone. The show becomes a team-based procedural set in DC. No more Sleepy Hollow Archives, which renders the whole plotline of Ichabod's quest to get them registered as a historic site irrelevant. No more catacombs or Masonic cell. The new female lead is a "raging supernatural skeptic" -- why go back to that well? The show has moved far beyond that point, so why go backward now? Sophie only needed half an episode to come around to the reality of this, when they were considering her as a replacement for Beharie. (And why drop her, when she seemed to be one of the more successful elements of season 3?)

And why do they even need a new female lead? They have Jenny. At least she's one of the Mills sisters, part of that same heritage stretching back to Grace Dixon. That should remain front and center.

At this point, I doubt I'll even watch the new season.

So they're bringing it back, but changing pretty much everything about it?
I have to wonder why they even bothered to bring it back if it's not even going to be recognizable as the same show. At this point I almost have to wonder if they would have been better off just canceling it, and just giving Tom Mison and Lyndie Greenwood a new supernatural series.
I really want to keep an open mind here, but they are making it very, very hard.

Maybe the show can beat Weeds for the show with the most 'WTF jump-the-shark' moments!

I mean really... All I can think of is with Bones ending they are going to combine Sleepy Hollow with some Bones characters and make a new show.

But really, the whole flashbacks and the library were what made the show the show. Now it's The X-Files but Mulder is a 300 year old guy who died.

Lance Gross and Jessica Comacho leaving, more series regulars being added, season 4 to be set in Washington DC - http://tvline.com/2016/07/07/sleepy-hollow-season-4-lance-gross-jessica-camacho-leaving

So many changes that they might as well create a new tv show instead.

From the interview I have to wonder - was Tom Mison realy ignorant of the politicking around Nicole Beharie or just keeping himself out of trouble?

Then again as an English actor in a U.S production perhaps he wasn't aware of certain issues as say an American actor would have been.

Maybe it will be like the Castle debacle. Remember how there was to be one more season but without Beckett? Then just before the finale they announced the show was canceled?

Maybe after these trial balloons TPTB will just throw up their hands and say "bye bye".

I agree. In the article @Enterprise is Great posted, it said they were searching for an ethnically diverse cast for the new season. UM.........you already had an ethnically diverse cast. You fired them all.

I had already decided that I was well and truly finished with this show...but thank you for solidifying my decision for me.

<shudder>

Oh well...I'll always have my season one blu ray set. In my happy world, this series was one and done. :(

I'll watch to see the train wreck but I doubt many others will. This show has a date with the cancelation bear. No way it survives past season 4.

Okay, that sounds like a train wreck. Everything they do just makes it worse.

Although it is kind of funny that it's not set in Sleepy Hollow anymore. Since Ichabod Crane had nothing in common with the Ichabod Crane from the story and the Headless Horseman had nothing to do with the Headless Horseman from the story, the setting of Sleepy Hollow was the only legitimate connection to the source material. Now they've cut that connection, too. :rommie:

I just this past weekend did a marathon binge of Sleepy Hollow S3 and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I kept thinking that, like Katrina, they would find some way to bring Betsy Ross into the present for S4. Like Katrina was for S2, however that didn't happen. She somehow climbed out the well back to the Revolutionary War instead.
I enjoyed the reveal of the Mills dad, which you could kinda see coming after a few encounters.
Joe Corbin was always going to die. The more romantic he got with Jenny the more that he was going to be "Whedon'ed" near the end.
With Abbie gone there really is no need for Daniel Reynolds however, I think we will feel the loss of Sophie.
I never figured on Pandora being back anyway, I didn't see this "Trial" lasting two seasons like Moloch/Henry Parrish.

So Jenny Mills/Lyndie Greenwood will be a S4 series regular so I feel that helps with continuity. Jenny could even be based out of Sleepy Hollow while Ichabod is DC based. Being DC based allows for more flashback ties as he stumbles on things beyond the boundaries of Sleepy Hollow. Jenny being in SH keeps the library/catcomb area as her base.

To me the show had already become X-Files lite, this S4 description only confirms that's exactly what's happening....and I'm A-OK with that. Let's see what happens. I do think having Betsy/Nikki Reed would've been a good call, especially since his one romance this season fell apart.

I'm going to give it a chance, I made fun of Sleepy Hollow before it's premiere. I was so wrong about it, maybe they can figure out how to make it work.

I'm skeptical. The first season worked because it was unapologetically crazy and bizarre and idiosyncratic. They had a vision and they ran with it and it was a total thrill ride. Now it sounds like the new showrunners are just trying to mold it into an established formula. A bit of X-Files here, a bit of Bones there. It doesn't sound like they have a vision, more like they're just trying to stitch some semblance of a show together out of used parts.

I that is probably my biggest complain with everything we've heard so far, none of it really sounds that original or interesting.

I thought the whole series was going to be this apocolyptic storyline with Moloch, and there are tons of other demons, and figured we would be getting a hierchy of evil with 4 horsemen, and each season would build on a bigger storyline, like a different take on what Supernatural did. The first season's twists were well done and organically laced together. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like they ever had more then 1 year of stories in mind....
