I was another one who got the ending cut off by the news announcement.
So was Moloch the way he always looked before now or a human version with horns?
They also seemed to interrupt the middle of the show a couple times. At one point Ichabod is fighting Abraham in the cave while Abbie is looking at a bunch of swords... then suddenly Ichabod is in the sword room with Abbie and Abraham is outside but the swords have disappeared. What happened there?

I caught the episode on demand today... Ichabod called to Abbie so she panicked and grabbed the first sword, then all the swords turned into snakes.

The news cut in came during Gotham, so I got to see the whole episode. I'm glad I did to, because I really enjoyed this one. The hunt for the sword was fun. The Gorgon was a cool monster, and I really liked the confrontation between Abraham and Ichabod. It kind of cracks me up how they now keep finding ways for people to see Abraham with his head, so they can actually have people interact with him.
I watched on On Demand, so I got no interruptions, thankfully.
I liked the episode for the usual Abby and Ichabod interactions, the dynamic confrontation between Ichabod and Headless, and the synergetic bond between Abby and Ichabod that succeeded in recovering the sword.
But I can't help wondering about the genesis of this underground vault. Presumably the Freemasons built it, but who acquired the Methuselah Sword and set up that weird Indiana Jones-like red herring and mystical test? And how? And, more importantly, how did that Gorgon get in there to guard the place? How do you capture a Gorgon? Or was she ensorcelled? Or assigned by a higher power? Or tempted with a retirement plan and health benefits? What does she do to pass the time while waiting for adventurers to stone? Do Gorgons have to eat? And who replaces those bricks over the trap door after the latest adventurer has been stoned? Does the poor Gorgon have to climb up there and re-entomb herself?
And I was kind of suspicious of Captain Irving's escape to begin with, but now that he's run away from Jenny I'm doubly suspicious-- I can't help think that he is acting under the influence of Henry.

Yeah, the pairing of a modern Black woman and an original Patriot, both of whom are portrayed as real people, is my favorite aspect of the show.

I haven't really found myself as invested in this season as the first season. It hasn't really seemed as innovative and original to me. That said, this was the first episode that grabbed me. It was thoroughly enjoyable.
I liked that Ichabod was forced to question himself, albeit briefly. The fish out of water aspect of the character has been fun, but it would be nice to see him with a little more depth.

I suppose nothing does, once it's been around long enough to get used to. But yeah, the storytelling does seem to have been a little unfocused lately. Irving and Jenny have been largely sidelined, Henry's been kind of one-note evil, and there's been so much emphasis on Hawley, who seems rather pointless as a character.
Thanks, I wasn't really able to articulate those points. I am still enjoying the show much more that a lot of other television--the only new series I am still following is The Flash for example (correction! I'm sticking with Constantine in hopes it will improve). I am thinking that Sleepy Hollow is going to end this season strong because most of the stories have been filler, and hopefully the third season will see it return to form.
As much as I love the show, I confess that there's a few things about season two I wish were different. Replacing Irving with Reyes hasn't worked for me, given how cool Irving became by the end of season one. Katrina hasn't worked for me (though, to be honest, she was never my favorite character), especially her undercover-with-the-Headless-Horseman status. And giving the Headless Horseman a head hasn't worked for me.
But the most important thing is that Abby and Ichabod still rock.

Yeah, I don't really care for the Headed Horseman either, especially since the guy playing him now looks nothing like the massive brute from the first season (or the massive brute who plays him headless).
No! Poor Captain Irving. He made the ultimate sacrifice when he faced War in battle. 
It wasn't a very dramatic death. He got injured by the horseman's sword while he was wielding the sword of Methuselah, and that was the end of him. I wonder if he'll make a future appearance as a spirit, kind of like John Cho.

yeah. when Molloch told Henry he was nothing and that there would be other Horsemen i knew what the outcome would be.
Irving's dead? You've got to be kidding. What happened to the premonition of him fighting in the Apocalypse? I hope he comes back. What a waste to keep him locked up and then kill him off.

My prediction: Irving comes back as the Third Horseman.
The timing was really weird for the cliffhanger here. I'd expect a cliffhanger to break just at the moment of greatest crisis, and then have the resolution at the start of the next episode. But here we get the moment of resolution and then it just stops. All that's left is the denouement, basically (and the setup of whatever the next crisis is). It's very strange to divide the story that way, and rather unsatisfying to be given a climax without followup.

I agree that he's likely to return. It's a complete waste to keep him in stir for half the season and have him lose his soul, then kill him off. And what about the premonition of him fighting during the Apocalypse? He'll be back. He better be. Grrr.
Since this is only the mid-season cliffhanger, we can only be seeing a partial resolution. Moloch won't die from Henry's attack. He'll probably switch bodies to that kid or something, so they'll have to kill him again.
