Skyline trailer released.

Looks cool. Hope the military isn't as retarded as it is in most alien invasion movies. Doesn't look the aliens have shields - so that at least offers a chance to fight back from the beginning without waiting for some technobabble wank to save the day.

I saw the first trailer in theaters a couple months ago (before Inception, I think), and it definitely intrigued me. The second trailer has gotten me a little less excited. I hope it ends up being more than people just running around and things blowing up. But hey, if it's got aliens and spaceships in it, I'll see it.

That was one of the best trailers I have seen. Look at the light get sucked up, squid aliens taking out helicopters and some godzilla looking thing all around. I'm sold, I'll be there!

The movie looks interesting, but good grief, L.A. *again*?!? Pick a different city for once! (And no, not New York either!)

Nice trailer... But I don't get how looking in the light suddenly makes your face change, and you get some kind of magnetism that allows you to be sucked up into the ship. It makes no sense. (because apparently you can't be sucked up if you haven't looked into the light - WTH?) But I'll probably see it.

Well, you probably need to watch the movie to learn why that happens, or do you want them to give away everything in the trailer?

Alright... so you really think it makes sense that you only get sucked up if you look into the light? Do you really think they'll explain that one in a satisfactory manner?

It is stupid as #%#$%#$. But I'm a sucker for SciFi related stuff.

I saw the new trailer yesterday. It looks like its going to have a large alien/monster in the movie which sets my nerd meter off the charts. I just love this stuff so this is on my list as a "must see movie." And if it is as good as it looks I will own the DVD.

I seriously doubt they'll explain it at all. It'll probably just be the alien technology so advanced it's indistinguishable from magic idea and leave it at that, which is more menacing and makes sense since who would have the time and know-how to examine them up close in this situation?

I'd be fine if the aliens show up, do their business, we shoot a few ships down, but most of them get away and we never have any clue what they're using the mass abductees for or if the aliens will ever come back.

If I had to hazard a guess on why the abduction light works the way it does...

A) The blood vessels popping out on your face, white eyes, and trance state caused by the lights aren't actually the part that pulls you in, it's just a means of rendering you motionless and docile so the tractor beam can more easily lock on to you. Otherwise you can turn and run or dodge the smaller tractor beam before it grabs you (can't do much about the giant Hoover on the mothership though).

B) The tractor/repulsor beam doesn't lock on to organic matter by itself, so it first must fire some nanites at you that get absorbed into the bloodstream (causing the enlarged blood vessels) and that gives the tractor beam the ability to lock on and grab you. Sort of like Borg assimilation except by tractor beam.

C) The beam itself is creating a localized forcefield bubble or channel of vacuum around the abductee to make it easier to suck them into the ship, and what we're seeing is bursting blood vessels (though exaggerated from reality) from temporary exposure to vacuum.

D) It looks cool and freaky. ;)

Anyway, aside from all that, this looks like one of those movies where even if the acting is terrible (I don't know if it is or not, but they're not showing much acting in the trailers and it's a cast made for Direct-to-DVD) and the directors are bad (their only other feature length directing credit is the godawful 'AvP: Requiem,' which doesn't bode well), I'll go see it regardless because of the amazing visuals.

I thought it was just going to be the giant motherships and the lights o'doom, but we've got giant transformers, tripod tentacles, and alien fighters too, so that's awesome. Plus, we at least get to kick a little ass in the process of getting snuffed out.

I had completely forgotten about this movie. The new trailer looks great! I'll be looking forward to this one. :techman:

I have to echo this, the first trailer was kind of "Meh, I'll rent it.". Now I actually want to see it on the big screen. That big robot thing and those tentacles grabbing the helicopter are just too silly fun not to see on the big screen. :)

Not too fond of the actors I saw, but visually it looks pretty awesome I have to say. I'll go check it out I think

Comes out next week and I only just saw a TV spot for it. Looks interesting in a generic alien invasion way. Hopefully it will be a good popcorn flick
